THE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE FOR ALLOCATION OF SEAT / BRANCH:

The counselling for allocation of branches to the short listed candidates will be based only on their All India Ranks (AIR) in the VITMEE2013.

Candidates reporting after 10.30 a.m. would be allowed to attend counselling in the afternoon session only.

If a candidate reports after 2.30 p.m., he / she would be allowed to participate only on the next day of counselling. (Only for M. Tech Programmes not for MCA)

The Counselling process may extend upto late evening, students / parents are requested to plan their travel accordingly.

Parents should accompany their ward at the time of counseling it necessary.

Verification of documents pertaining to mark sheet of the qualifying examination, community nativity (if applicable) and other eligibility criteria will be first done before the candidate is allowed to participate in the counselling.

No change of date / time of counselling is permissible. If a candidate fails to appear for counselling on the date and time specified, his / her seat will be offered to the next candidate in the order of merit .

However, due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend counselling on the specified date and time, he / she can attend on a subsequent date / time, after duly intimating the office. The candidate can only opt for the branch available at that time and cannot claim any other branch as per his / her original turn or seniority. (Except MCA)

After counselling for a particular day is over, the number of seats (branch wise) still available

for allotment on the next day of counselling, will be published in our website and also be displayed on the notice board of the university for the benefit of candidates. If the marks statement of the qualifying exam has not been received before the date of counselling,

the candidate should furnish an undertaking stating that if he / she fails to qualify as per the Eligibility norms , he / she will forfeit the seat allotted.

A candidate should decide for certain on whether he / she should join the programme based on the branch allotted to him / her at the time of counselling before the payment of the fee.

Allotment of branch once made is final and cannot be changed under any circumstances.

More than the required numbers of candidates have been invited for the VITMEE2013 Counselling for admission to M.Tech. / MCA Degree Programmes. Therefore, it is not guaranteed that everybody reporting for counseling / Interview will be sure of getting a seat in M. Tech / MCA Programmes.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN VIT

The fact that candidate has qualified in the VITMEE-2013 and has been called for Interview doesnot guarantee admission to him/her. This will depend on the candidate's Rank in the entranceexamination, eligiblity and upon the availability of a seat when their turn comes.

Candidates willing to pay the balance fee on the same day of counselling, can do so with the required documents as specified in the information brochure.

It is mandatory that the candidate should open the Bank account on the same day of Counselling

POST OFFICE : A Post Office is functioning in the VIT University campus.

CANTEEN FACILITY : Canteen is available inside the campus itself.

Candidate and the parent can avail the canteen facility without affecting their counselling schedule.

GETTING TO VIT, VELLORE CAMPUS

The VIT campus is located on a 300 acre site on the Ranipet Katpadi Road. It is 2 hours drive from Chennai (Formerly Madras) by Road and 4 hours from Bangalore (considered the silicon valley of India). Both the cities are well connected by road, rail and air routes with all parts of the country and also have international airports.

The airport nearest to Vellore is in Chennai. From the airport, you can go to the bus stand at Koyambedu or to the Central Railway Station to take a bus or train to Vellore. Train and bus services to Vellore are frequent, cheap and quite satisfactory. Either journey takes about 2 hours. If you choose to travel by train, you should buy your ticket to Katpadi Railway Station which is just 2km away from VIT. Buses from

Chennai will

bring

you

right

to

the

centre

of

the

town

of

Vellore

from

where

you

can

reach

VIT

which

is

about 5 km from the bus stand.

Auto Rickshaws (on share basis) are easily available from both Railway station and bus stand to Chitoor bus

GETTING TO VIT, CHENNAI CAMPUS

Location

VIT University Chennai Campus is located midway between Vandalur Zoo and Kelambakkam in South Chennai in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is 30 km away from Chennai International Airport and 42 km away from Chennai Central Junction. It is easily accessible by Metro Train and Deluxe Buses from both Chennai Airport and Central Railway Junction. The nearest Metro Station is Vandalur Zoo, which is 9 Km from the campus. The campus can be reached by MTC Bus Route No. 555, 556, 115 and 55 from Tambaram bound for Tiruporur/Kelambakkam via Melkottaiyur. From Vandalur Zoo, Van services and shared auto services are also available.

Reaching from Chennai Airport:

You can reach the campus within 30 minutes by taxi. From Airport one has to drive via Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram, and Vandalur Zoo on the National Highway NH45. From Vandalur Zoo one has to take a left turn on the road adjacent to Zoo leading to Kelambakkam. In less than 9 Kms, you will find the Campus located next to Krisp IT Park.

By Train:

If you arrive at Chennai Central, you can move to Park Town Station (Opposite to Central Station). From there you can reach Vandalur Zoo by Metro Trains bound for Chengalpattu. During peak hours you will find trains bound for Tambaram every 5 minutes. You can get down

at Tambaram Junction and reach the campus by bus.

By Bus:

Vandalur Zoological Park is well connected by Deluxe and Luxury buses plying from major locations of Chennai. From Vandalur Zoo, one can reach either by auto or van.
