Of course, we know that by the way we participate in life with our loved ones, we are not only building our personal family, but supporting future families as well. We know that we are to participate in society – to vote and make our voices heard on policies that will impact the family, or life, or liberty. And one of the ways that we do this is by participating in a Fortnight for Freedom. We take two weeks starting on the vigil of the patron saint of politicians and statesmen (June 21st – St. Thomas More), concluding on the 4th of July (our nation's Independence Day), to pray and campaign for freedom. This might be freedom to care for the sick and for immigrants, freedom to educate children, freedom to bear witness to Truth, or to build stronger communities. Freedom of religion is not just freedom to believe, but to be free to act on those beliefs. Let us take time this summer to remember our Christian duty and our mission as Knights, and pray and work for a true and authentic freedom for our country and world. Fr. My Brother Knights,

As we cross the midpoint of this calendar year, it is good to reflect again on who we are, what we do, and where we are going. The Knights of Columbus organization is founded around the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. We strife to promote Liberty, Life, and Family in our communities and our world. All these things can be rather vague and we might wonder just how we are supposed to be doing that. We might lose sight of the mission in the midst of all our everyday tasks.

Do more than exist….LIVE; Do more than touch…FEEL; Do more than look…OBSERVE; Do more than hear…LISTEN; Do more than listen….UNDERSTAND; Do more than talk….SAY SOMETHING!

Congratulations to Aggie Smitten, recipient of the Service Recognition award for the months of May and June 2017. Aggie Smitten along with Ione Jacobs, Elaine Notch, Tricia Walz and Corine Meier are all candidates for the “Lady of the Year” for our auxiliary. This award will be presented at our September meeting.

We will not be meeting as an auxiliary during the months of July & August. We will, however, again be collecting school supplies for the needy children of our area. Please drop off the supplies (reams of copy paper, tissues, crackers, socks, underwear, and the usual items needed to start school) you have purchased at Helen Bauer's home by August 18, 2017 so they can be distributed before school begins.

There is a brat sale scheduled for July 21 & 22, 2017 at Coborn's Centennial. Please contact Elaine Notch (320-252-5273) to volunteer.

The auxiliary will be helping the Knights with parking cars at the Benton County Fair August 1st thru August 6th. Please contact Jan Gross at 320-203-7088 or email her at [email protected] to volunteer for a shift.

This morning as I rose from bed and saw the sun above, I softly said “Good Morning God, bless everyone I love.” And right away I thought of you and said a loving prayer, that He would bless you especially and keep you free from care. I thought of all the happiness your day could hold in store and wished it all for you because no one deserves it more. I felt so warm and good inside, my heart was all aglow. I know God heard my prayer for you, He hears them all you know.

Happy Birthday to our July birthday ladies: Helen Bauer, Ione Jacobs, Ann Johnson, Helen Thielen, Patty Walker, Mary Ann Kalla, Jan Hoelscher, Mary Ann Vogel, Joan Menke, Betty Host and Nicole Walz.
