Who we are

2

The Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) is the leading professional membership organisation for asset safety management and compliance within social housing and facilities management. It is the only industry organisation raising standards in safety and compliance; informing, supporting and empowering members, and representing their views by being the voice of safety and compliance in the sector.

The ASCP incorporates our two existing specialists associations, the AGSM and AESM, bringing together like-minded professionals to network and share best practice. Acting as the voice of their members, these organisations campaign for positive change within the sector, and provide support, resources, news, events and training opportunities. Our three association options give you the flexibility to choose the membership type best suited to your needs:

The Association of Electrical Safety Managers (AESM) delivers outstanding levels of support and technical expertise in electrical safety and compliance within social housing, building on the proud foundations of our CORGI technical heritage. We work jointly with industry stakeholders and members to progress electrical safety management through innovation and collaboration. We inform, empower and support our members and act as the voice of electrical safety compliance within our industry.

AESM Membership is open to all professional managers in the social housing and facilities management sectors who are responsible for electrical safety within their organisation.

With a strong membership base and a wealth of experience, the Association of Gas Safety Managers (AGSM) is proud to be the only industry organisation raising standards in gas safety management, informing and inspiring members, and representing their views across the industry. Our strong heritage and expertise in gas safety stems from our links with CORGI, and key to our success is our ability to bring together members and industry stakeholders to progress gas safety management through networking, innovation and collaboration.

Membership of the AGSM is open to anyone responsible for gas safety management within social housing or facilities management.

The Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) operates at a strategic level, supporting those with responsibility for safety and compliance across their organisation. This includes asset compliance specialisms such as gas, electrical, fire, legionella, asbestos and/or lift safety. We not only help our members to meet the requirements of an ever-changing industry, but also work with them to drive positive, cultural change for the benefit of the whole sector.

Full membership of the ASCP includes access to both AGSM and AESM member benefits such as gas and electrical safety newsletters, technical meetings, regulatory updates and publications, as well as support on the broader compliance disciplines.

As a Corporate member you’ll not only achieve recognition for your organisation’s commitment to safety and compliance, but you’ll have use of your chosen association’s corporate member logo, to help promote your membership with staff, tenants and other important stakeholders.

If you are involved in management of landlord gas or electrical contracts for domestic or commercial properties, the AGSM/AESM is the professional body for this sector of the utilities services industry. It offers invaluable technical and compliance training, with qualifications and support for any issues that arise. It also provides a structure and ethos to develop your organisation’s safety management systems to meet current regulatory and compliance standards. It lobbies for change, provides forums for discussion and continues to innovate, supporting wider gas safety issues.

Darren Fountain AGSMGas Compliance Manager, Incommunities Group Limited.

Because we work in a highly regulated industry, I felt it would be a benefit to both me personally, and the organisation I work for, to become a member of an association that would help enhance my knowledge, by meeting other members and discussing issues with people in a similar role who face many similar challenges in delivering a compliant service for employees and customers. What would I say to anyone thinking of joining the association? Don’t hesitate, just do it! You will not be disappointed.

Derek RiddleTeam Manager (Gas & Water Hygiene), Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Anyone who works within compliance, gas or electrical safety should consider joining. You will receive valuable knowledge and experience that you could not gain elsewhere. The collective cooperation of members is really helping to advance safety standards. Your membership allows you to bring back new and enhanced knowledge to your teams, helping make your goals much more achievable.

Jordan BarrProgramme Manager - Housing Investment, Hull City Council.

I became aware of the AGSM through a colleague in another housing association who recommended attending the south west gas safety technical meeting. The support that I received at the very first forum was a deciding factor in joining the Association for me. It is a great vehicle to share information with other members in gas safety and ensures I am compliant within my sector.

Karen WaltersCompliance and Customer Service Manager, Taff Housing Association.

The AESM is growing fast. The more that get involved, the faster we will grow. It is a great network full of amazing people all driven and passionate.

Eddie Spicer AESM MIETM & E Surveyor, South Cambridgeshire District Council.
