The play takes the original time period that the play was written in
ancient Greece and then turned into modern times.
The original play was written in approximately 492 BC by
Aeschylus and was one of the first extant drama in Western European
literature

PRODUCTION STYLES
Clothing will reflect modern day times like it is outlined in the
setting.
The setting is a wedding, therefor the women will be wearing
gowns and men will be wearing suits
LYDIA
Since she is the middle ground between her two sisters, she will
have a very simple wedding dress that isn’t damaged to reflect her
balanced character.
She is the only bride to not kill her husband, therefor her dress
remains in tact the whole entire play.
THYONA
Huge feminist and plots the murder of all the husbands, therefore
has a wild dress to express her personality
Very damaged from the escape plan from the wedding.
Covered in blood later in the play.
OLYMPIA
Very prissy and feminine, but is a firm that women deserve true
love. Her dress will be a sweetheart neckline to embody this trait.
Polar opposite of Thyona therefore has a completely different
dress.
Very materialistic, a lot of embellishments will be on the dress.
Later the dress becomes blood stained from the murder.
BELLA/ ELEANOR
Traditional old Italian women apparel, a black poofy dress.
Dresses very wise and mature.
Mother to thirteen sons and wears a babushka to demonstrate her
old age.
Eleanor is the comic relief of the play, former puritan and keeps
the girls in check. Wears traditional guest attire to the wedding.
BELLA/ ELEANOR
CONSTANTINE
Wears a sharp and masculine suit due to his misogynist personality
and harsh manner.
Constantine is chewing gum when he enters.
Eventually gets naked in the ending scenes.
The audience should be able to depict his power and dominance
over the group with his apparrel
OED
Wears a simple suit. He is not very bright and does not say very
much throughout the play.
He is not a very important character and therefore should not
distract from the more dominant characters.
He eventually removed his shirt.
NIKOS
Is a very loving man and wishes to be happily married to a woman.
The only groom that survives.
Wearing a sweet and simple but dynamic tuxedo to show his
importance throughout the play
PIERO/LEO
He is known as a mama’s boy and is very similar to his mother,
therefor is dressed in modern Italian attire.
Very casual and calm throughout dealing with the situation at hand
and very casually sips on an alcoholic drink.
Leo is another comic relief therefore has light and playful color
pallet in his clothing. Very intoxicated as well
PIERO/LEO
