Our specialty programs give you the training you need to become licensed by the state as a hair designer, facial specialist, nail technician, massage therapist, hair weaving and braiding specialist, or eyelash extension specialist.
Look around the city and you will see that there is no shortage of businesses offering these services, and there are new ones opening almost daily. You could work anywhere, from neighborhood salons to high-end day spas, or follow your dream and open your own business.
The San Jacinto College cosmetology specialty programs include:
• Eyelash Extension Course: designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Eyelash Extension License Examination. Emphasis is placed on skills, safety procedures, application, and theory of eyelash extensions.
• Facial certificate of technology: designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge required for an entry - level position in the facial/esthetics profession. Upon successful completion of 750 hours, the student is eligible to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Facial/Esthetics.
• Hair-weaving and braiding marketable skills achiever award program: designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge required for performing hair weaving and braiding services. Upon successful completion of 300 contact hours, the student is eligible to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Hair Weaving and Braiding Specialty Examination.
• Nail technician occupational certificate program: designed to provide the student with the basic manicuring skills and knowledge required to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Examination for licensing and to gain entry-level employment in a professional salon spa. Emphasis is on the application of all learned skills and theoretical knowledge in a simulated salon. All key aspects of the nail profession are addressed, including acrylic, fiberglass, and gel nail extensions.
