Pengertian

• CUI adalah jenis korosi yang terjadi akibat

terjebaknya air di dalam isolasi (Rockwool)

sehingga menyebabkan proses korosi

berlangsung.

• Jenis korosi ini adalah bentuk korosi yang

terlokalisasi.

• Korosi jenis ini bisa menyebabkan

kegagalan pada bagian yang tidak diawasi

secara intensif.

Pengertian

• CUI ini susah untuk ditemukan karena

adanya insulasi yang menutupi, hingga

terjadi kegagalan sebelum sempat dideteksi.

• Adanya air adalah inti dari CUI ini. Perawatan

khusus harus dilakukan selama proses

design agar air tidak bisa masuk secara

langsung ataupun tidak langsung melalui

proses kalipalisasi.

Insulation Selection

• Such as calcium silicate, glass fiber and, to

some extent, cellular plastic foams absorb

and retain liquids and vapors.

• The only fully nonabsorbent insulation is

cellular glass. Cellular glass should be

used where corrosive or flammable liquids

are present.

Equipment Design • The proper design of insulation for

pressure vessels, tanks and piping

includes consideration of the support and

connection of the material.

Protective Paints and Coatings • Coating system must protect for long periods against water or

corrosives.

• An epoxy or epoxy-phenolic should be applied in two coats

over an abrasive blast cleaned surface.

• Recoating is done every 10-15 years.

• Coating Criteria :

1. Withstand boiling water.

2. Heat and thermal shock resistance.

3. Direct application to hot steel (up to 500°F).

4. Excellent constructability when applying to ambient steel.

5. High film capability while applying to directly to hot steel.

6. Simple to use.

7. Low VOC content and environmentally safe

Weather Barriers • Provides the primary barrier to water.

• Can be inspected quickly and repaired

economically.

• Keep liquids and evaporation of any liquid

that manages to get into the insulation

system out.

• Should be durable, offer flame-spread

resistance, and be economical.

• The material must be maintained

periodically (usually, two to five years) to

remain effective.

defects due to deterioration or abuse.

• Profile Radiography

• Metode ini umumnya menggunakan

sumber Ir192 , penyinaran dilakukan pada

bagian kecil dari pipa dan menggunakan

blok komparator untuk menghitung

ketebalan pipa. Profile Radiography

metode evaluasi yang efektif untuk

diamater pipa ≤ 8 inci.

• Kelebihan:

• 1. Memberikan informasi ketebalan tanpa

membuka insulasi

• 2. Memberikan informasi penipisan karena

korosi pada permukaan

• luar dan dalam

• Dapat dilakukan pada kondisi on-stream

• 2. Memerlukan sejumlah teknik untuk mendapatkan hasil
