COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN DAY OF PRAYER

Saturday, March 9, 9:00 am Cafeteria

All women of the parish are invited to join the CCW for a Day of Prayer, friendship and lunch, as we enjoy the teachings of our presenter, Maureen Bacchi. The topic will be “Love Lessons from the Desert”, reflecting on what Jesus is saying and teaching us through his desert experiences. Maureen is trained as a spiritual director and taught in the Cenacle spiritual director’s program for 25 years. She has a Masters degree in counseling and social work. Join us at 9:00am for a light breakfast, the presentation begins at 9:30am. We look forward to sharing the day with you.

LENTEN PROJECTS God’s mercy is ours to share As we approach the season of Lent, the Scripture readings help us to reflect upon God’s gift of mercy…a gift that leads us to being merciful toward others. Here are some ways to consider offered by our parish throughout Lent.

Rice Bowl Program – take a Rice Bowl home, placing it on your dining table. Follow the calendar to help guide your Lenten journey. Learn about the people and families of other countries who benefit from our prayers and financial sacrifice. Reflect on the social teachings of the Catholic Church. What can we do to share the gift of mercy? The annual Rice Bowl program is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services.

Toiletry Items for Braes Interfaith Ministries – Braes Interfaith Ministries, our local food pantry, and partner in helping to care for the poor, is constantly in need of toiletry items. This Lent, our parish will be collecting items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, soap, shave cream and other items the weekends of March 10, 17 and 24. In addition, there is a constant need for diapers (sizes 4,5,6), feminine hygiene products and toilet pa-per. Donation boxes will be placed in the vestibule for your convenience, or you may bring items to the parish office.

CCCS 3rd Grader, Shailene Nacuray, is a Winner in the Livestock Show and Rodeo's Go Texan Decorating Contest! CCCS' 3rd graders participated in the Livestock Show and Rodeo's "Go Texan Decorating Contest". We were informed that there were approximately 6,500 entries from across the city of Houston and surrounding areas, of which 200 winners were selected; one being our own Shailene Nacuray! Shailene received a congratulations letter, a participation ribbon, and four passes to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The passes will admit them to the livestock show, AGVENTURE, The Junction, the carnival, food booths, shopping, and many other exhibits that further demonstrate Texas’ rich Western Heritage. We are especially excited to announce that Shailene's winning entries will be displayed in NRG Center, Hall B, near Miss Moo’s Barn from February 25th to March 7th. If you're attending the Rodeo this year, please stop by to see her work.
