PROGRESS AT NEW FACILITY Construction Timeline: May 2015 – the Baltimore Sun and the Aegis, respectively, ran articles regarding the initial site preparation work that is starting on the new home of Bel Air Auto Auction in River- side. In the articles, Raymond C. Nichols stated that he has heard estimates that the construction of the new Riverside facility could last 12 to 16 months. September 16, 2015 – BSCAmerica, the parent company of Bel Air Auto Auction, Inc. and Tallahassee Auto Auction, LC, held a groundbreaking ceremony for Bel Air Auto Auction’s new facility in Riverside. Bel Air Auto Auction’s future facil- ities will have a 70,000 square foot, 10-lane auction facility accompanied by a 46,000 square foot Mechanical and Body Shop. County Executive Barry Glassman made comments about the new complex to be built, and he presented a cer- tificate to the Nichols Family owners during the event. Billy Boniface, Director of Administration, along with other Harford County department heads, elected officials, representatives and special guests joined in the groundbreaking activities. BSCAmerica’s President, R. Charles Nichols, estimates the construction will take approximately 15 months to the grand opening, and he is enthusiastic about the new auction’s many attributes. “Our new site is one mile East of I-95, making access much easier for our dealers. We are installing campus-wide Wi-Fi for the convenience of our customers, and to avoid data usage issues on their smart phones and electronic hand-held devices.” “Our second building will house an eight lift mechanical shop, five lane detail shop, two paint booth body shop, and a brand new condition report and imaging area — all under one roof.” Nichols continues, “We will have 80 paved acres for our customers and clients to utilize. There will be 8,190 spaces for customer parking, truck loading and inventory/storage. Our additional Marshaling Services facility in nearby Riverside Business Park has 22 acres paved and fenced for addition- al secured vehicle parking.” “Our new auction building will also house the BSCAmerica’s corporate offices and Bel Air Auto Auction’s administrative offices and regional staff,” reports Michelle Nichols Neff, Vice President. “One main location for our dealers and a much easier environment for employees were the objectives for the new complex!” Nichols Neff continues, “We’re also excited about our new dealer restaurant, customer service suites with Wi-Fi provided workstations for customers. Those new ser- vice facilities will be attractive to dealers. They will be able to enjoy Bel Air Auto Auction’s delicious fare while attending our weekly auctions and bi-weekly GM Financial Factory auctions.” Raymond C. Nichols, CEO of BSC America companies, adds, “Charles, Michelle and I, as partners in Bel Air Auto Auction Inc., are most enthused to have all the required permits and approvals for building this new modern facility to be located on our 175 acre property in Riverside. The new facility will be able to accommodate continued growth in the marketplace and will better serve our customers’ needs. Sellers and buyers will benefit from our state-of-the-art auction that will serve their needs within this growing marketplace and region.” August 2016 – The construction of the Bel Air Auto Auction facility at Riverside (Belcamp) is moving right along. The Mechanical and Body Shop building is now under roof, and the auc- tion building is framed up. As you can imagine, in addition to the physical construction going on (which can be seen), there are numerous behind the scenes activities going on. No word yet on “moving” day, but look for announcements coming by the end of the year. Corporate Newsletter September 2016

News from the Fleet Department

The last few months have been very exciting and busy for Fleet. We recently participated in a new venture with GM Re-marketing called Maven. Maven is handling all of the leases to a company called Lyft.

In case you have not heard of Lyft, they are a company that leases cars to drivers much like Uber. In fact, you could prob-ably say Lyft is Uber’s competition. We have provided more than 1,300 cars to Lyft since June 1st that were leased to Lyft offices in Baltimore and Washington DC. The preparation of the vehicles required complete reconditioning, title and registration, plating, as well as a complete mechanical inspection with any safety repairs that might be needed. So when you see units out on the street with a big purple mustache on the front grill, think Bel Air Auto Auction!

Another congratulation is in order for the Ally Department and team. Not only did they win the 1st Quarter Operational Award for the Northeast Region, they now have won the 2nd Quarter Operational Award for the Northeast Region as well. Way to go!

For Year to Date 2016 we have processed over 17,000 units through our Riverside Marshalling Center in Belcamp MD. The units processed through Riverside are direct dropped by the transporters, received in electronically, as they are in Bel Air, then all condition reports are written, and mechanical repairs and inspections completed as well.

Once the units are set for sale they are brought over to Bel Air Auto Auction to be sold. There is a lot of management of just moving cars in order to complete the sales transactions, and our Riverside Facility and staff have done a great job in keeping all units in order and staged to be moved to the main facility here in Bel Air. Great job guys!!

Bel Air Auto Auction Welcomes Auction Industry VeteranAs Bel Air Auto Auction continues to move closer to the completion of our new State of the Art, 175 acre auction facility located in Riverside Maryland, we are excited to wel-come auction industry veteran Dan Dietsch to the Bel Air Auto Auction Family as our Transition Team Manager. BSC America President Ray Nichols said “now is the time to start planning the execution of the relocation of auction facility, employees, and cus-tomers. It is such a large project that we felt it was critical to have a leader in place to oversee the entire transition to the new location. We are extremely fortunate to find someone with Dan’s experience and background to lead our team during these exciting times!”Dan Dietsch is a 24 year auction veteran who has an accomplished record as a proven and extremely successful leader. Over his auction career, which started with ADT Automotive as a Vehicle Inspector and continued with Manheim and ADE-SA, he has in-depth experience in every department in an auction including 10 years as General Manager. Additionally, he held several key positions within both corporations including some of the most cutting edge roles the industry has had, leading to many of the standards and technology we use today. Dan is considered to be not only an expert in Recondi-tioning, Operations, and Inspections, but his success in providing exceptional customer service, growth and sales strategies has left his mark on some of the most successful auctions in the country today.

Nichols also said that the opportunity Bel Air Auto Auction has in building a new facility is often a “once in a lifetime event” and finding someone who has actually “moved an auction” is not an easy task. Dan Dietsch is one of the few people that has this accomplishment on his resume; not once but several times including nearly a half dozen new Recon-ditioning Facilities. As Transition Team Manager, Dan will be certain that our customers are not only informed as to our progress, but that the exceptional customer service Bel Air is known for continues throughout the relocation. Employees, Vendors and our Deal-ers will also begin seeing much more information on the project and the details of our relocation from Dan, as he settles into his new role.

Welcome to the BSC America Family, Dan Dietsch!

Bel Air Auto Auction feature Article from Used Car News, June 20, 2016, by Jeffrey BellantAuction Heritage - AUCTION FAMILIES CARRY ON TRADITION OF SERVICEThe auction industry may be global, but many auction companies are families that have spanned across more than one generation. Leaders from a couple of auctions shared their thoughts and memories about an industry that has been about both business and family. Bel Air Auto Auction Inc. in Maryland has a long history, opening first as a livestock auction in the early part of the 20th century and transitioned into an auto auction in 1947. It kept growing and was purchased in 1980 by Ray and Elaine Nichols along with Burt and Dottie Greenwood. Today, the Nichols family, which bought out the Greenwoods in 1993, is building a new location just seven miles from Bel Air’s current site. The family hopes to open it by the end of the year or early 2017, weather permitting. The auction management team includes the Nichols grown children, Michelle and Charles. Elaine died in 2000. Michelle, who now serves as vice president, said she’s been involved in the auction since she was in kinder-garten. Of course, it’s changed a lot since then. She said the technology is the most obvious, but there is also the increasing number of avenues in the wholesale pipeline. “There are so many ways for consignors and buyers to sell and purchase cars,” she said. The sale now has six lanes and runs between 1,800 and 2,000 cars each week. The new sale will have 10 lanes, Nichols said.

Welcome Tommy Rogers! In July, Rogers was named General Manager at the Clayton Station Auction Center. He will also have Regional Oversight duties for Tallahassee Auto Auction, working closely with TAA’s General Manager, Doug Rodriguez. In the Press Release issued in July, Rogers stated that he is thrilled to be a part of

the BSCAmerica family. He cut his teeth in the auction business with one of the leading independent auto auctions in the Southeast, Carolina Auto Auction. For those unfamiliar with Clayton Station, Clayton runs the PowerSports and Truck & Equipment sales, as well as the damaged, rental wreck and inopera-tive auction sale operations. Clayton’s auction arena features double blocks and accomodates theater-like seating for customers as they bid on vehicles and specialty assets.Once again a big Welcome to Tommy Rogers as he leads Clayton’s operations and sales to the next level.

From the Desk of Tommy Rogers:As the sun begins to peek over the eastern horizon on Thursday mornings, it is all business at Clayton Station, located at 1300 Business Center Way in Edgewood. Steam is rising from the coffee, the donuts are fresh, and the dealers are waiting for the hammer to drop at 8:00 am, signifying the start of the sale and another day of deals.

On the menu for the morning are some offerings for the dealers and the public consisting of repos from banks, credit unions, and finance companies. Once the public offerings are done, the dealers settle into the auction lane for a great run of drivable units including donations, state and county offerings, scratch and dent rentals, and dealer consignments. The auction becomes a symphony with the melodious chant of the auctioneer, the dance of the ringman, and the action of the dealers bidding with a raise of the hand, the wink of an eye, the pull of an ear, or the nod of the head.

As Act 1 comes to a close, a quick intermission takes place as all the action shifts from the auction lane to the mobile sales vehicle – fully-equipped with computers, sound systems, and anything needed to take the show on the road. Act 2 begins with the stars of the show, attired with broken windshields, deployed airbags, major bumps and bruises, missing parts, inoperable engines – all waiting for that one dealer to take it home and find the hidden value yet to be discovered. It’s not uncommon to hear the announcement from the PA system that all units are sold AS IS. If it falls apart in two pieces, pick up both pieces and take them home with you. The show continues until that last unit is offered up for sale and the last bid is taken. The hammer never drops early, and the show is not over until the final call.

It has been said that you cannot have an AUCTION without ACTION. The only thing missing is “U”. Come join us for the next show so that “U” can be a part of the ACTION and ultimately, the AUCTION.

New Rollback Added to the BAAA Fleet:

At the suggestion of Kenny Blackwell (who has been with BAAA for 11 years), BAAA purchased a rollback/tow truck in April. Angel Olivera, who has been an employee at BAAA since June of 2010, is the operator of this unit. It has been an excellent addition to our tow truck fleet. This has saved the company (and our customers) a huge amount of money.

As you can see from the pictures, the rollback has multiple capabilities.

Excellent job Angel, he has done a terrific job with safety and being out there doing pick-ups!!

Did you know we have a star on our hands at BAA?

Hopefully you did not miss our employee, Julie Renshaw singing the National Anthem to kick off our 4th of July sale.Julie came to BAA last December with a long background in selling & customer service. Julie started her career in sales at Best Buy right here in Bel Air MD where she worked for over 3 years before being recruited to Tweeter where she spent an-other 4 years selling home theatre equipment. Have you ever heard the saying “She could sell ice to an Eskimo?” Well…. She can…. Julie went on to having top sales #’s selling furniture, accessories, vehicle warranties, and yes folks, even cemetery properties… quite a list! When a position opened up in the Fleet department Julie applied for the position & we all quickly knew it would be a perfect fit! Julie has been handling key accounts in the Fleet department and has even been helping to rep the cars out on the lane on sale day.

ATLANTIC AUCTIONS NEWS:Atlantic Auctions has conducted several high profile auctions thus far this year. Recent noteworthy projects include the sale of an office building in Berryville, VA in early March. Later that same month, a prominent retail/apartment building in downtown Rock Hall was sold. In early May, a well known golf course in Easton Maryland, the Easton Club, was sold in front of a large crowd at the courthouse. In late May a magnificent 9,000 sq ft home on 17 acres in Damascus sold after much spirited bidding during the auction.

Throughout the spring and into early summer, Atlantic received several auction assignments from clients involving boats and motorcycles. Working with the Clayton Station PowerSports team, we are able to obtain top dollar for these units. A special “thank you” once again goes to the Clayton Station personnel who helped make these sales so successful! In late June, Atlantic conducted another successful auction sale of an interesting property in West Ocean City. The sale was held at the property, which was the former site of a live stage theater known as “OC Jamboree”. Ray Nichols, who served as the auctioneer for this sale, masterfully coaxed bidders to continue increasing their bids until the hammer fell at a price that exceeded the seller’s expectations. After the sale of the real estate, Atlantic sold the remaining theater contents, including props, sound systems, a player piano and a vintage pump organ. With the dog days of summer upon us, Atlantic is coolly preparing for several major auctions in the upcoming months. We recently completed a large auction of vehicles, equipment and the remaining inventory of a specialty flooring company in the month of September. We expect these projects, along with others that are currently being scheduled, will keep the momentum going for Atlantic as we head into autumn! In its 42nd year serving the needs of financial institutions, attorneys, accountants, bankruptcy trustees and business owners, Atlantic Auctions specializes in the liquidation of commercial, residential and agricultural real estate, com-mercial and industrial equipment, machinery, excess inventory, and other assets. Atlantic is equipped to handle any number of complex asset management assignments, allowing for an orderly liquidation and maximization of value for its clients.

Don’t forget that Atlantic Auctions handles asset liquidation auctions. This includes trucks, heavy equipment, motorcycles, and more, at either the customer’s location or at our sister company’s facilitiies (which ever is most advantageous to our client). Sales this year have included the total liquidation of assets for a flooring contractor and a former theatre, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and a sports car.
