A Brief History
Corporate Membership Soane opened his home and private museum to his students, ensuring that this should continue after his death in 1837, by leaving the house and his collections vto the nation.
Within its exquisite Regency interiors, Sir John Soane’s Museum provides the perfect backdrop for corporate entertaining. We offer packages to include private dinners, drinks receptions and breakfasts for client entertaining, curator-led talks, private visits to exhibitions and behind-the-scenes tours, invitations to VIP museum events and a range of art workshops.
Alongside our generous sponsors, your membership provides vital funding for our ongoing conservation and restoration work, cataloguing, and educational programmes, allowing us to maintain our reputation as the ‘supreme example of the house-museum in the world’, welcoming over 110,000 visitors per year.

Corporate members have exclusive access to Soane’s Private Apartments when hosting a drinks reception or a dinner. These exquisitely decorated chambers were dismantled and transformed into a Curator’s apartment and offices, shortly after Soane’s death in 1837. The rooms are now restored and open.

In order to gain an idea of where your money would be spent, typically:• £250 pays for all materials and resources needed to run the Museum’s ‘Young Architects’ Club’ for a year.• £1,000 pays for the cleaning of an oil painting• £5,000 pays for the restoration of a piece of furniture• £10,000 pays for our schools outreach budget for an entire year
