REPORTING ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Page 2: Corporate Governance Workshop for Media Professionals

The Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF) is a multi-donor fund facility of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the governments of Canada, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The GCGF is working closely with its partners - the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and National Institute of Securities Markets - for a capacity building programme in India in the area of corporate governance, through training and research. The programme is designed to reach key players in corporate governance in India, including board directors, practitioners, academics, and the media. This India initiative is generously funded by the Government of Japan.

Because the media plays an important role in raising public awareness in corporate governance and supporting enforcement actions, the programme also includes a series of workshops aimed at enhancing journalists’ knowledge and reporting techniques concerning corporate governance issues such as transparency, disclosures, Board room practices and roles and responsibilities of the Board and its directors. The present Interactive Workshop on Reporting on Corporate Governance for the media, forms a part of the GCGF’s capacity building programme in India for the past three years. The Thomson Reuters Foundation is collaborating with the GCGF in providing technical and resource support for the interactive workshop for the media.
