Its formation is the result of a joint collaboration between Universiti Teknologi MARA and the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG). Since its establishment, CGRC members have completed many fundamental and applied research projects. Some of the most significant research projects by CGRC are: the development of the Corporate Governance Rating for MICG; Corporate Governance Screencard for MSWG; Dividend Survey; Companies Meetings and Directors Remuneration. Most of these research reports have been successfully commercialized to the industry and practitioners. In 2011, CGRC initiated several international collaborations with three universities/research centres in India and Indonesia: Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE - India); Universitas Bengkulu and Universitas Islam Indonesia (IIU). On 9th July 2011, Professor R K Mishra, director of IPE – a national centre of excellence in India - and his team visited CGRC and ARI. In the meeting between ARI and IPE researchers, it was agreed through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), ARI-IPE international collaborations would involve research, conference, training and publication. The Institute of Public Entreprise invited Dr. Hilwani Hariri and Assoc. Prof. Dr Noraini Mohamed as Distinguished Speakers at the 3rd Corporate Governance in Asia Conference, that was held in Hyderabad on November 28th and 29th, 2011.
