Good intention leads to Growth With humble beginning as a housekeeping company with just 8 people in 1997, BVG has today grown into India's largest integrated and diversified services conglomerate with 750+ clients. It all started with Swami Vivekananda's vision of 'Take Up One Idea...' that inspired Mr HR Gaikwad as an engineering student in 1991 and he took up Bharat Vikas (India's Progress) as the idea he will think of, dream of and live on.

Two years later, he started Bharat Vikas Pratishthan (BVP), a society to collect funds and help poor students get quality education. With his idea still taking shape, his career began with Tata Motors, Pune in 1994, then known as Telco. BVP was now helping rural youth get jobs. In 1997, when Tata Motors went looking for a housekeeping contractor for its new Indica plant, Mr Gaikwad (now the Chairman and Managing Director, BVG) convinced the management to give BVP the contract. Tata Motors agreed and BVP became Bharat Vikas Group or BVG. Mr Umesh Mane, now Vice Chairman, BVG, was the first person to believe in Mr Gaikwad's idea.

It is this idea, Bharat Vikas or India's Progress, that strings together all of BVG’s service offerings - whether it is keeping India clean or maintained through its facilities management services, or providing emergency medical services, or deriving fuel from plastic waste and converting biomass waste to CNG, or helping farmers increase cattle and farm yield, or treating wastewater or implementing rural electrification projects, or relocating manufacturing plants, among many others. Fiat Plant Relocation ProjectA first of its kind project for BVG, it successfully shifted Fiat‘s Plant without any manufacturing losses. The entire plant was relocated & re-erected in a record time of 22 weeks. Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services As per a Ministry of Home Affairs report in 2011, the state of Maharashtra registers 360 deaths or disabilities per day. Most of these deaths and disabilities could be avoided by acting timely during the first golden hour of injury.

That’s exactly what BVG has been able to prevent on many occcassions with its highly acclaimed Emergency Medical Services model. This service provides 24/7 pre-hospital emergency medical services across Maharashtra and is accessible to public by dialling 108 free of cost for all, especially in the "Golden Hour" during which most fatalities occur.

Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) is a project of the Government of Maharashtra under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and it is being operated by BVG with training and technical support from UKSAS.

The entire operation was launched and started way ahead of its set deadline.

A complete launch of 937 ambulances was planned during a3 years time period with an aim to serve a population of 118 million across the state. Although with government support and team BVG’s hard work, the entire fleet was launched in record5 months!

937 ambulances that include over 234 Advanced Life Support (ALS) and over 703 Basic Life Support ambulances (BLS) with more than 6500 EMS professionals are working with MEMS.

The reason for such a high success rate in a critical field operation is the seamless integration of high-tech equipments & a dedicated team of well-trained doctors & Emergency Call Centre. For the first time in the country, the ambulances have medical-grade oxygen delivery systems imported from Spain. The ambulances are also fitted with defibrillators and transport ventilators imported from Germany.

Each ambulance has a well-trained doctor in it round the clock. Driving it all is a quick response team at the world class call centre type-3.

All professionals working with MEMS are certified by Symbiosis International University. This is the first ambulance service in the country to implement EMS protocols approved by the State Government and get certified by a university of repute.

Solar Pumps ProjectBeing an agriculture based society, more than 70% of India’s population depends on it. India’s agricultural sector accounts for almost 22% of the total electricity consumption, most of which drives the pump sets for irrigation.

There are an estimated 35 million pump sets across the country. 25% of these runs on diesel thus causing pollution whereas the other 75% pums runs on electricity. Those which run on electricity add to burden on the taxpayer as the electricity which runs them is highly subsidised. Apart from this, limited and unreliable supply of grid electricity has led to farmers’ extensive dependence on diesel for water pumping.

BVG Indra Solar Pumps can become the right solution providing continuous power supply at affordable rates. An excellent product of BVG’s well established R&D center, these pumps deliver 30% more water than other pumps and start at very low radiation thus working on cloudy days too. Unlike its competition they are specifically designed for outdoor applications and are extremely user friendly. Solar Parks ProjectWhether it is a big or a small industrial set up, a shopping mall or an office, everyone is today plagued by power shortages. The only way out is finding reliable sources of energy, which are also cost-effective.

Through Indra Solar Park, this is exactly what BVG Clean Energy is trying to achieve. Indra Solar Park is a joint venture between BVG group and L&T Solar. Its also a perfect solution for a country which receives very high solar insolations making it the cheapest as compared to traditional sources of energy.

Indra Solar Park is being developed at Bhoom, Osmanabad. This JV offers world class turnkey offerings to potential investors for solar power plants. In the future, BVG plans to build a 100 MW Solar Park Facility for major IPPs in the country.

Plastic Waste ManagementThere is no doubt that plastic is today one of the biggest manmade pollutants. Recent estimates suggest that 280 million tons of plastic waste is generated per annum. India alone generates 5.6 million tons of plastic waste per annum (15300 ton per day). Once created, plastic waste is one of the most difficult to do away with. Without an effective solution it is dumped in rivers or landfills creating irreversible damage to the ecosystem. Most of the plastic waste will take thousands of years to disintegrate. This is one concern which needs immediate attention before it is too late.

It is often said that every problem is an opportunity in disguise. It just needs someone to look deep and think hard about the problem. So in 2004, Mr. Gaikwad, decided to apply his analytical skills to find a solution for it.

Plastics are long chain polymers derived from crude oil and natural gas which are essentially short chain polymers. So he thought that if a way was found to break the long chains into shorter chains, we can recycle plastic into oil and gas!

A team was formed and in no time it came up with a catalyst assisted pyrolysis process which was later patented. Starting with a small laboratory, BVG in 2014 installed its fourth generation continuous production plant with a production capacity of 5000 kgs/day. Compared to Light Diesel Oil (LDO), BVG’s fuel from plastic waste has higher calorific value and less sulphur and ash content. Clearly it is the cleaner, greener fuel!

BVG CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES LTD.Through this vertical, BVG will pursue its goal of transforming waste into fuel. We believe that there are better ways to dispose waste than dumping it into landfills. Probably the best way is to convert it into energy. All we need is the technology to achieve it, and this is where BVG Clean Technologies will make a huge difference.

To counter the Power-scarcity problem, it is much cheaper to use LED lights than producing power by various means. The above table shows cost of UNIT electricity in US cents.

While Energy-efficiency (like in case of LED lighting) costs 2-4 cents/unit, all other sources are 2-7 times more expensive. While Power projects take minimum 2-3 years to get commissioned and there are other hassles, Energy-efficiency by using LED lights takes very little time for implementation.
