Strategic Vision & Action Plan Update

The Implementation Committee has met with all

Divisional Committees and all Clubs at adult and

juvenile level. At Youth Level, the establishment of

Coiste na nÓg and the Central Region has universal support. The Regional concept has strong support, with

some internal variations to be finalised.

At Adult Level, the introduction of the County element

of Regional Leagues has universal appeal. Further

meetings are being arranged with Divisions to finalise internal organisation.

Open Countywide Junior ‘B’ Championships are

welcomed. Clubs shall have the option of participating

or continuing to play only in their own Division. A request for a ‘second chance’ system is being examined

by the C.C.C.

The C.C.C. has met with the Divisional officers

regarding Divisions’ participation in the Senior Championships in 2011. Carrigdhoun are not competing

in either Championship, while Carbery and Seandun are

not competing in the Hurling Championship. It was

agreed at the County Board meeting of November 23rd that the preliminary stages of the Championship

involving the Divisions would be run on a ‘round-robin’

basis. It was also agreed that the last Board meeting in

February would be the deadline for permits to CIT and

UCC, and that each of the colleges would be limited to 30 Cork players in each code.

Various committees involved in the new structures

were ratified, including Coiste na nÓg, and these can

be viewed at www.gaacork.ie. The remaining committees will be announced in the

very near future.

Award for Cian McCarthy Sarsfields and Cork hurling star Cian McCarthy is the

Boardwalk Bar and Grill Sports Star of the Month award

winner for October. McCarthy, a son of Cork dual

legend Teddy McCarthy from Glanmire, starred for his

club in their Evening Echo senior hurling final win over Glen Rovers by scoring eight points and winning the

man-of-the-match award. Cian who works for Wisetek

Solutions in Glanmire, was chosen by the judges for his

amazing performance in the final, where he was the key to Sars regaining their title. Cian collected his
