With the match starting withrumours that both StJoseph and Britannia areseeking new blood in thecoming transfer window,
both teams set out determined to take thethree points. A tense, end to end match sawboth teams playing with intensity until thevery last minute.
Britannia took the lead first only to see theirjoy end soon as St Joseph's hit the back ofthe net within minutes.
As the second half restarted Britannia tookthe lead and took advantage of St Josephslosing one of the players to a second yellow
card.
Steaming ahead to a 4-1 lead and with justminutes to go Britannia slowed down acouple of gears to thier detriment.
A ten man St Joseph continued to pressforward and battle for every ball, eventuallyscoring two more goals within the closingminutes.
A miss in front of goal in the last seconds ofinjury time saw the excitment come to anend with St Josephs unable to get adeserved equaliser, in what turned out to bethe most exciting match of the first weekendof 2016.

Afrail looking, jittery Lynx defence giftedEuropa with two goals to give them thethree points in a 2-1 defeat of Lynx.
With the rain having momentarily held back theMonday night match was marked by themistakes more than the strength from any oneof the two teams.
Even though Lynx started play attackingEuropa’s goal, seeing Europa unable to reachthe opposition penalty area for over 20 minutes,it was a quick counter attack by Europa thatopened the scoresheet.
Lynx defence started to look frail when exposedto pressure letting Europa through for a secondtime just ten minutes later for Barranco toscore.
As the first half came to an end Lynx pulled oneback to make the score 2-1.
The second half saw Europa come out thestronger pressing hard in midfield and tearingLynx’s frail looking defence apart on numerousoccasion. By the first 15 minutes of the secondhalf the score could have been at a hammeringstage had Europa capitalized on the many goalopenings.
Instead, the usually efficient Europa frontlinecontinued to fail to complete in front of goaleven though Lynx seemed suicidal in the centreof defence, at times defenders going for thesame ball without their rivals close by.
With Europa unable to complete at the finishingline Lynx attackers pressed the Europa defenceand nearly secured an equalizer. A toughdecision by a linesman disallowing a goal foroffside.
Europa for their part also had a disallowed goal.
Both Europa and Lynx managers could be seenexpressing their frustrations at their own playerswho their frailties crept up. Europa maintainedthemselves second with this important victory.

FootballNo angelic protection
as they tumble toManchester boys
The newly promotedAngels have yet toimpress in the First
Division only havingobtained three pointsagainst relegationstrugglers Glacis beforethe Christmas break.
With eleven defeats undertheir belt they were not todisappoint pundits bettingagainst them, against aManchester 62 side whohas yet to impressthemselves.
Under new management,Manchester 62 came outonto the field looking as iftheir senior team hadbeen chopped up to let innew blood.
A shambolic display indefence by Angels, coupled by amateurishmistakes across the fieldpaved the way forManchester 62 to regainits position above GibraltarUtd.

Manchester 62, however, did notcapitalize on the many Angels errorsuntil the second half when theyscored their second after ending thefirst half equal on goal.
Angels who had gained the respectfrom many of the top teams for theirdetermined 90min effort which haseven seen them stretch Europa, wereno where near their best. A lack offitness, and a lack of any type ofcreative response or organizationwas punished by the youngManchester boys who venturedforward at every opportunity.
A 4-1 scoreline reduced Manchestersgoal difference to an acceptable leveland placed them one point aboveGibraltar Utd fourth from bottom.Angels remained at the foot of thetable looking as certain relegationcandidates.

20-0Lions five end without a roar20-0
Lions five end without a roarWith just five players turning up for theLions Futsal side to face a full StJosephs Spark Energy side, with twiceas many players on the bench, a 20-0scoreline with 8 minutes to go wasenough to see the Lions team limp outand the match abandoned.
Having held the score to 0-0 for the firsteight minutes, Lions came apart as ex-haustion started to sink in.
A 14-0 scoreline by half time left thevaliant five Lions players demoralisedand just hoping for the end of the match.
With one of their players going down in-jured within the first five minutes of thesecond half, Lions continued with justfour on the pitch. As exhaustion sank inthe players collapsed to the ground un-able to proceed forcing the referee to calla halt to the match. A 20-0 scoreline sawSt Josephs take not just the points but amassive goal difference record into theleague table.

Battle for top spotLynx let two goal lead go asGlacis take points
The first weekend of the year broughtthe two top teams together in whatcould be a title decider.
Lynx had been leading the league tablebefore the match, and in the same way tookthe lead during the match. Glacis took untilthe 17th minute to hit the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-1.
Half time saw the end of Lynx’s hopes as
they started on the back foot and saw theirlead reduced and then overcome. With a 5-2lead already Glacis let Lynx get one backbefore they closed the scoresheet scoring their sixth and final goal.
Those watching were entertained throughoutthe 40 minutes, which was really more like90 minutes with the way futsal works. End toend action, with a fast paced passing gamesaw both teams battling out across the pitch.
