    Winning and Keeping Our Children

    Deuteronomy 6:1-12

Our current sermon series is equipping us and encouraging us to share

our aith with others. One o the rst responsibilities that we as parents

have is to share our aith with our children. The principle o teaching

our children to obey God is reected in the instruction Moses gives to

the people o Israel when he said, These are the commands, decrees

and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe inthe land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that you, your

children and their children ater them may ear the LORD your God as

long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give

you, and so that you may enjoy long lie (Deut. 6:1-2). This message

explored how to lead your child to the Lord and how to help them

to become established in the aith. It also addressed the problem o

young people who leave God and/or the church community and whatcan be done to help them to return.

    1. Describe your rst involvement as a child with God, church, the

Bible, prayer and other spiritually centered activities.

    2. Who were the key people in your lie that helped you to develop

    spiritually?

    3. Who are the children, teens, grandchildren or other young people

that you have concerns about spiritually?

    4. What can you do to inuence them in a positive way?

    m | g r o u p M a t e r i a l

    5. At what age do you believe a child should be baptized? Why?

    6. What advice would you give to parents to help them to pass on their aith to

    their children?

    7. Why do you think many teens become disconnected spiritually?

    8. What can be done to reconnect them?

    9. What can be done to prevent them rom becoming disconnected?

    10. What other thoughts do you have about passing on our aith to our children?
