It tells of day-to-day living in rural Vietnam and folk tales that are told by grandparents to their grandchildren. Stories of the harvest, of fishing and of festivals are highlighted. Students will learn about the legends and national history that are told through short skits. Sapa Lao Cai HIGHLIGHTS Sapa is located at 1500 meters above sea level in Vietnam's remote northwest mountains. It is famous for both its rugged scenery and also its rich cultural diversity. Students will understand the culture of the minority tribes, how these people eke a livelihood through agriculture and handicraft making to sell to tourists. These local people put in their best into the cultivation of their farm land so that they have food to feed their families. The efforts put into their simple yet hardworking way of life exemplifies the school value of Excellence. Ma Cha Black Hmong School (Service Learning) HIGHLIGHTS Mac Ha, located 7 km from Sapa town, is the most impoverished area. There are over 1,000 Black Hmong ethnic minority people living in Ma Cha village. Ma Cha School supports about 120 students from age There will be a service-learning activity with Ma Cha School where students will raise funds to buy toiletries and stationery for these children.
