FDT = Field Device Tool

FDT is a standardised interface specification

FDT defines the interface between– FDT frame application– DTM = Device Type Manager

What is FDT Technology?

FDT is the standard technology which is independent from devices or system vendors.

DTM can be applied to any devices, such as sensors, actuators remote I/O, drives and so on.

FDT Group

The FDT Group is an open, independent, not-for-profit collaboration of international companies dedicated to establish an international standard with broad acceptance within the automation industry based on Field Device Tool technology.

It is open to all companies that wish to participate.



Yokogawa initiatives and FDT milestones

April 2005– Yokogawa announced at Interkama to join FDT-Joint Interest Group (JIG) Steering Committee

June 2005– Yokogawa officially joined FDT-JIG as Executive Member

October 2005 – FDT Group became incorporated– Honeywell joined the FDT Group – Major users are joining the FDT Group
