I am taking this opportunity to remind you all
of the Parent Consultation Hui to be held the
week after next in the school library and the
End of the Year Prize Giving arrangements:
November 11th at 9 am, 2:45 pm, and 5:30 pm
Parent 2020 Strategic Planning Consultation &
2020 Updates / Plans Hui
• Teachers and classes
• Staffing
• New classrooms and class configurations
• Curriculum & Operational Goals
• School camps, fees, and donations and
what it means for Oropi 2020
• An opportunity for your input, ideas and
thoughts for 2020 as a school
Kia ora koutouThursday, December 5th End of Year Prize Giving,
Y8 Speeches, and Y8 Leavers Dinner
• 10:45 am Whole school to the Hall
• 11 am 12 pm Year 8 Speeches at the Hall
• 12:00 pm Lunch & Ice Blocks back at school
(parents welcome to join their children for lunch
at school)
• 1:15 pm EOY Prize Giving at the Hall for all
students
• Normal End of Day Routine at 2:40 pm
As I am in the mode of pondering some 2020
Strategic priorities I can't help but think we NEED
to make it a focus to see how we can reduce our
waste as a school to reduce our carbon footprint.
Wandering around the school, I notice a huge
amount of unnecessary wrappings etc flying
around the school, in our bins, and in kids lunch
boxes. I am sure there are ways as a school we can
promote and encourage more sustainable
solutions for food wrapping. Watch this space and
if you have any great ideas let us know when have
our consultation meetings. One example is all
children making beeswax wraps for their
sandwiches. I am sure there are other solutions
and 'ways tomotivate' out there.

Group Day
My calf is called Caramel. I love my calf and she
loves me. She even tries to eat grass. She drinks
warm milk and she eats hay and muesli. My calf
likes scratches on her head. I love her because she
is a girl, she is like an angel. My calf loves the
ribbons she won because she slobbered on them.

ParkingPlease remember that the bus turnaround
area is not a drop off zone. This must be kept
clear at all time for buses. This is especially
important now that the Kea crossing is
operating.
We encourage families to park at the hall and
walk along the path to School and use the Kea
crossing.
Medication atSchoolPlease remember that all medication MUST be
held at the office. No medication is permitted
in School bags. This includes any type of
medication including antibiotics,
antihistamine, and ashthma medication.
Garden to TableFinally a week of sunshine and everything in the garden is growing fast. The dishes the classes cooked
this week used a variety of vegetables; a sweet and tasty Parsnip and Caramelized Leek Tart and a Green
Salad with Avocado dressing. With so many avocados around at the moment the kids highly
recommend this creamy yet zingy dressing to make at home.
There were lots of Spring tasks to be done in the garden. We planted more beans, transplanted
nasturtiums, started on the pumpkin patch, pulled out winter veges that had bolted and started clearing
space and preparing beds for summer planting.
We are only 3 weeks away from the Mount Maunganui Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, we hope
your students are getting excited.
Participants need to be entered by midnight on Sunday, 3 November, 2019 if they want to take
advantage of the Early Bird price of $45 as well as the option of having their TRYathlete pack either
couriered to home or included in the School Courier delivery.
Entries will continue to remain open but participants who enter after this date will need to collect
their TRYathlete pack on the event day.
