A Butterflys LessonOne day, a small

    opening appeared

    on a cocoon; a

    man sat and

    watched for the

    butterfly for

    several hours asit struggled to

    force its body

    through that little

    hole.

Then, it seems tostop making any

    progress.

    It appeared as if

    it had gotten as

    far as it could

    and it could not

    go any further.

    So the man

    decided to help

    the butterfly: he

    took a pair of

    scissors and

    opened the

    cocoon.

    The butterfly

    then emerged

    easily.

    But it had a

    withered body, it

    was tiny and

    shrivelled wings.

    The man

    continued to

    watch becausehe expected

    that, at any

    moment, the

    wings would

    open, enlarge

    and expand, to

    be able to

    support the

    butterflysbody, and

    become firm.

    Neither

    happened!In fact, the

    butterfly spent

    the rest of its

    life crawling

    around with a

    withered body

    and shrivelled

    wings. It never

    was able to fly.

    What the man, in his

kindness and his goodwilldid not understand was

    that the restricting cocoon

    and the struggle required

    for the butterfly to get

    through the tiny opening,

    were Gods way of forcing

fluid from the body of the

    butterfly into its wings, so

that it would be ready forflight once it achieved its

    freedom from the cocoon.

    Sometimes,

    struggles are

    exactly what we

    need in our life.

    If God allowed us to

    go through our lifewithout any

    obstacles, it would

    cripple us. We

    would not be as

    strong as we could

    have been. Never

    been able to fly.

Innovation is about action versusjust ideas, as much aboutimplementation as about design.

It is not about mere incrementalimprovements in our course ofdaily operations or a one-off newbrilliant idea.

It is a culture that needs to becreated consciously and pursuedassiduously by an organization.

    Why do camels have

    humps?

Well son, we are desert animals, we need

the humps to store water and we are

    known to survive without water.

OK, then why are our legs

    long and our feet rounded?

Son, obviously they are meant for walking

in the desert better than anyone does.

OK, then why are our eyelashes

    long? Sometimes it bothers my

    sight.

My son, those long thick eyelashes are your

protective cover. They help to protect your

eyes from the desert sand and wind.
