A New Vancouver Housing Author

COPE will create the Vancouver Housing

Authority, an arms-length authority chargwith taking an aggressive lead on settingtargets on home creation and coming upachievable plans to make that happen.

The authority will create semi-market hoand monitor the state o housing aordain the city, building and maintaining houseparate rom market development whilensuring stronger inclusionary zoning lawapplied to all new developments.

Not only would this authority help to creaordable ownership opportunities, it woalso be able to make real progress on mu

needed aordable rental and aordable spaces as well.

COPE will make home ownership areality or more Vancouver residents bysupporting a City Housing Authority or

nonprot developer to build and sell newunits at the cost o construction.

COPE will ensure these new units includehousing covenants which make sure theycan only be re-sold at a predeterminedrate. This preserves the benets o equityand housing security or Vancouveramilies while maintaining aordabilityinto the uture.
