SBBC: E-123 FL: 134 POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Guidance, BRACE* & Academic Advisement CONTRACT YEAR: Twelve Months PAY GRADE 27 QUALIFICATIONS: Education – An earned master’s degree from an accredited
institution. Experience – Minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or
training in the field related to the title of the position. Special Qualifications - Certification in Guidance required.
Preferred experience as a Guidance Counselor or Guidance Director. Bilingual skills preferred. Computer skills as required for the position.
DIRECT ACCOUNTABILITY: Director, College and Career Readiness SUPERVISION: Employees as assigned by the Director, College and Career
Readiness GOAL: To provide leadership and coordination which promotes
personalized, integrated, culturally sensitive guidance/student support/BRACE (Broward Advisors for Continuing Education) services that focus on student achievement and personal growth in accordance with the Standards of Student Services policy.
ACCOUNTABILITY PROCEDURES: The Director, College and Career Readiness will assess the
effectiveness of the Coordinator, Guidance BRACE & Academic Advisement annually with respect to performance of specific responsibilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator, Guidance, BRACE & Academic Advisement
shall 1. provide leadership and coordination for the
implementation of integrated student support/guidance services that focus on student achievement and personal growth in accordance with the Standards of Student Services.
2. develop and maintain systems that provide students and
families with information and experiences that

successfully prepare them for post-secondary educational, career, and personal opportunities.
3. in collaboration with the Department of Educational
Technology Services, develop, update, and train school personnel in the use of technology-based systems which provide information to students and families, which enable guidance, BRACE and related staff to easily access and analyze information, and which enhance staff efficiency and program effectiveness.
4. collaborate with agencies and organizations in the
community for the purpose of expanding and complementing the school-based support services that are available to students and their families.
5. collaborate with colleges/universities, professional
organizations, foundations, and other entities for the purpose of assisting students/families with post-secondary planning, scholarships, and financial aid.
6. provide results-driven staff development activities that
are consistent with a standards-driven, zone-based, integrated support system consistent with the Standards of Student Services.
7. collaborate with other departments within the district to
ensure that major initiatives as well as administrative policies and procedures are consistent with the Standards of Student Services.
8. provide input at the federal and state level to influence
the development of legislation and procedures which reflect the School Board’s priorities and philosophy related to student support services.
9. coordinate the district’s responsibilities related to home
education. 10. provide guidance-related information and training for
school administration, teachers, parents, support personnel and community representatives.
11. perform and promote all activities in compliance with
equal employment and nondiscrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.

to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
13. review current developments, literature and technical
sources of information related to job responsibility. 14. ensure adherence to good safety procedures. 15. perform other duties as assigned by the Director, College
and Career Readiness. 16. follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board
