Coordinate PlaneFormed by two

number lines, called axes, that intersect to form right angles at their zero points.

Origin

The point at which the two axes intersect.

The vertical number line.

that represent the location of a point on the coordinate plane.

The ordered pair for the origin is (0, 0).

An ordered pair is always written in parentheses.

number in the ordered pair; located by moving left or right.

Y-Coordinate: the second number in the ordered pair; located by moving up or down.

Point (3,-2) move to the right 3 and down 2. Point (3,-2)

The numbering begins in the top right quadrant and moves counter-clockwise.
