The event will showcase CoolTan Artsnew art exhibition and our different activities. We have a film screening of „The Largactyl Shuffle(Midnight Walk) , followed by a panel discussion and Q&A, starting from 2pm. During the afternoon well have taster workshops and information about our services. Light refreshments availab le. It will be a f antastic opportunity to meet t he CoolTan team, participants and volunteers, network with C oolTan partners a nd find out w hat CoolTan is all about. CoolTan Arts Midnight Largactyl ShuffleSaturday 18 June 2011, meet at 23:45pm for 12:00 midnight start Meet at Tate Modern, Bankside, London SE1 9TG (main entrance on Holland Street) Night time is the time for the Outsider, the sleepless, the restless, and the wanderer. Charles Dickens, an avid nightwalker, asked: “Are not the sane and the insane equal at night as the sane lie a dreaming?” Join us in the footsteps of past and present nightwalkers; learn about artists and writers who have made moonlit London their own. We will also be celebrating the summer solstice, marking the shortest night of the year, with a look at the magic of pagan midsummer. Participate in this unique procession from the „powerhouseTate Modern to the home of contempora ry psychiatry, the Maudsley Hospital . Walkers meet at 12:00 midnight at the main entrance of Tate Modern and finish the walk in the wee hours of Sunday at the Maudsley Hospital, where youll have the possibility to rest at the chapel for a few hours. Feel free to bring sandwiches, tea, coffee for the route (no alcohol please). Walk leaders wear orange high-vis jackets and rucksack. Food For Mood – last chance to include recipes and food stories!The CoolTan Arts Food For Mood cookbook will shortly be going into production. Thank you!

Farewell to RosieRosie is moving on from CoolTan to a new job. Her last day is the Open Day on 11 June; make sure you comedown and say good bye to her. We wish her all the best and hope to see her again at a walk or exhibition.Rosie says she is sad to be leaving, had a great time here and wishes everyone at CoolTan all the best.

Transition Fund GrantCoolTan Arts are pleased to announce that we have been successful in securing an Office for Civil SocietyTransition Fund Grant. With this Grant, CoolTan Arts will be able to develop the organisation and our servicesto meet the needs for personalisation, brokerage and GP commissioning, set up systems and processes tobecome more sustainable in the future.

New IT equipmentThanks to a Grant from the Get Connected Investment Project CoolTan Arts was able

to purchase new disability accessible ICT equipment. Come along to our computersuite during the Open Access times and test the new computers!

Product-Making GroupAre you interested in doing something creative and helping raise money for CoolTan Arts at the same time?Our product-making group design and make products to sell, such as paper, cards and small gifts. New Trips and Exhibitions group!New day to meet: Every Wed 4pm – 5.30pm Do you enjoy going to plays and art exhibitions? Would you like to help others to do the same? Are youinterested in how exhibitions are organised and run at CoolTan Arts? Then this exciting new group is for you.We will be researching free tickets, building links to other galleries and theatres, and going on trips. Also wewill be planning, advertising, organising and evaluating trips out to see exhibitions and plays. Eventually wehope the group will be helping to plan, fundraise, set up and run exhibitions at CoolTan Arts, and othervenues. Self-Advocacy Training Skills Programme - June 2011Self-advocacy training enables people to gain a stronger voice for situations where theymight not be listened to, be discriminated against or find barriers to accessing information orservices.This month we have a full Self-advocacy Skills Training workshop schedule at CoolTan Arts.

There are limited places available, please do contact CoolTan if you would like to join thetraining programme as a new participant. What‟s happening this month:

Thursday 16th June from 2pm - 4.30pm: Denise Hill, VoiceAbility London for Advocacy for Independenceadvocate, is provisionally booked to facilitate a practical workshop for people wanting to apply for PersonalBudgets/Community Care Assessments.

Walk leaders and stewards needed!We have our Midnight Walk on 19th June and are looking for volunteers to help on this exciting walk, getinvolved with the Largactyl Shuffle group and join the walk leaders as stewards, leading people safely overstreets etc. You‟ll have the opportunity to take part in training, learn new skills, meet people and have fun.
