Power Supply SytemsTrack profiles
Track profiles nos. 100 – 600 weredesigned for a suspension distanceof 1m and a load capacity of daN 80for track profile no. 100 up to amaximum of 1000 daN for trackprofile no. 600.The track profiles are available inshiny and galvanized designs exstock. Upon demand track profilesnos. 100 – 400 are also available inplastic-coated design.Track profiles nos. 100, 300, 400and 500 are available in stainlesssteel V2A. All profiles have a stan-dard length as produced of 6m butare also available as fixed lengths.

An installation consists of the following components:
a) track b) splice jointc) wall or ceiling fixture joints d) cable trolley, control trolley if necessarye) driver trolley f) end clampg) track stop h) flat or round cable
Power Supply SytemsInstallation design
The type of cable trolley dependson the cable type, cable dimensi-ons and the load. From these resul-ts the track profile dimension, alt-hough the max. load for any givensuspension distance as detailed indiagram 1 on page 5 has to beobserved.
The diagrams opposite are intended for a first determina-tion of cable trolleys and track profile dimension.
When placing an order, please observe the following:
1.The diagram is used to determine cable trolley and track profile dimensions. For flat cord dimensions please see pp. 21.2.The number of cable trolleys depends on the con veyed distance and the festoon loop as determined using diagram 1 on page 6.3.Calculate all-over track length as results according to diagram 1 on page 6 from the conveyed distance and the cable trolley type.4.Calculate number of wall and ceiling fixture joints. Allow for fixture to be installed every 1 – 2m. In the buffing area, fixture joints must not be spaced out more than 0.5 – 1m.5.Calculation basis for the fixture joints is the number of track – 16. For each installation 1 driver trolley, 1 end clamp and 1 track stop have to be ordered.

Power Supply SytemsSuspension distances
Diagramm 1
Calculating the suspension distances:
Assumed single load 100 daN.Cable trolley no 635 was chosen.1m track holds 4 of these trolleys, so the total load is 400 daN.The diagram shows that for track no. 600 a suspension distance of 2,5m is possible.
If the curve for a calculated load does not intersect the chosen profile’s curve, the next larger profile has to beused.

Conveying distance in m
Calculation of the required number of cable trolleys: Follow a horizontal line from the point of intersection ofthe conveying distance and the chosen or available festoon loop and read the required number of cable trol-leys from the perpendicular axis.Calculating the buffing area: The opposite chart values indicate the length of only the buffing areas for theindividual trolley types. It is also possible do it the other way round by calculating the festoon loop for a particular type of trolley.Storage area – buffing area + length of end clamp + length of driver trolley of the respective trolley types.Length details in the tables as of page 18.

Power Supply SytemsTrack holders/splice joints
The track holders have to be posi-tioned every 0.75 to 1.00m. Fordistances greater than that, pleasesee diagram 1 on page 5.
In order to adapt the suspension tothe existing constructional conditi-ons, height-adjustable angular sus-pensions have to be used.

Track suspension distances
The height and side adjustability ofthese track suspensions allow exa-ct installation.
Non-adjustable track holders for wallor ceiling suspension are preferredwhen the installation does not requi-re levelling (ill. 2-6)
Suspension clamps are used to suspend tracksthat have to be positioned at a large distancefrom the ceiling and, on occasion, from the wall, too. Straight or angular flat iron spacers have tobe provided on-site. (ill. 10)
When suspending two tracks using double wallor ceiling suspension joints, ‘y’ (see page 13),which results from the flank size and the di-stance between the flanks, has to be observed.

Clamp platesClamp plates are used as separa-ble connections between suspensi-on elements and existing structures.
The clamping range is suitable for almost all profiledimensions and types.
For oversized flange sizes the clamping height iscompensated by a chuck.
The transmittable forces depend on the pre-load corre-sponding to the chosen strength categories of thebolted joints.

HELM cable trolleys, driver trolleys and end clamps arerobust and meet the highest mechanic requirements ofmodern installations.
The surface protection is resistent to environmentalinfluences and agressive surroundings as in chemicalplants for example.
HELM cable trolleys, driver trolleys and end clamps arerobust and meet the highest mechanic requirements ofmodern installations as well as the supports for flat andround cables are made of zinc-plated and yellow-chromated steel.
HELM cable trolleys, driver trolleys are equippedwith :
- dust and splash-proof rollers
- buffers at both ends
- flat rubber cable guard for flat cable trolleys
Special designs are available upon request or if neces-sary because of the on-site conditions:
- installations for profile nos. 100, 300 and 400 in plastic- coated design
- installations for profile no. 100 in rust-resistant design
- PVC or PA rollers
- for profile nos. 100, 400 and 500, rollers and axles are available in stainless steel.

When designing an arc installation, the same criteriaapply, although a few basic point need to be taken intoaccount:
1. If the current consumer is moved manually (light orsmall installations), normal cable trolleys with ashortened festoon loop can be used. In this caseprofile no. 100 may also be used.
2. Motor-driven installations require special cable trol-leys (e.g. no. 335 B) and curves with guide plates. The festoon loop is between 30 and 60 cm.
3. Small arcs have the cable trolley track on the outerside of the crane profile.
4. The festoon loop depends on the arc radius and thecable type. A longer festoon loop may be used withflexible cables and large radii.
5. Drawings are crucial for the correct design of aninstallation.
6. Motor-driven installations are only available for trackprofile no. 300 or higher.

Power Supply SytemsArc installations
An arc installation consisting of only a straight section,an arc section with adjoing storage area of cabletrolleys at the feeding point will be cheaper, if only thestorage area and the arc length are equipped with therequired number of special cable trolleys. Standardcable trolley travel the length of the straight section. Here, the festoon loop can be chosen at random.
The special cable trolleys are gui-ded through the arc section by atraverse roll, which is positioned ina rolling bearing, alongside a guideplate. In order to increase the corne-ring motion for smoother travel ofthe trolleys, the rollers are rotating.
The trolley part which is angled onboth sides, serves as a buffer andtakes the strain relief. It is obligato-ry to attach the strain relief chain.
