*2 If a built-in memory card interface is used in a V6:Conversion of memory card data into V7 data is possible with the use of a CF card or a CREC. *3 How to transfer SRAM cassette backup data to a V7:See page 22.

*4 Using a CF card as a substitute (automatic uploading):There is the memory expansion 2 function available with V6, by which screen data can be displayed by inserting a memory expansion cassette storing the data into a V6. This function is not available with a V7 memory expansion cassette (V7EM-F). A CF card is available as a medium to upload screen data automatically to a V7. When replacing a V6 with a V7, therefore, use a CF card. With the memory expansion 2 function, screen data is not written to the V series, but is displayed through reference to the cassette. Since the cassette cannot store the V series system program, the program stored in the V series is used. If a CF card is used, inserting the card into a V-series unit causes the screen data, I/F driver file, V series system program, and font data of the V series to be overwritten. For more information on automatic screen data uploading with a CF card, see “Chapter 23 CF Card (V7 Only)” in the Reference Manual (Function).

Notes on Software

Memory CapacityThe maximum memory capacity in a screen data file differs, depending on the font type as well as the V-series model as shown below.

(Unit: kB)

If a V6 is equipped with a memory expansion cassette (V6EM/4), conversion of the V6 screen data file into a V7 file may result in exhaustion of memory because the memory expansion setting becomes invalid after conversion. In such a case, the error check message appears.

Conversion through Built-in Memory Card Interface

When a V6 uses a built-in memory card interface, conversion into V7 data is possible with the use of a CF card or a CREC. Either way, the screen data file must be converted into a V7 file and associated settings must be made.

Using a CF Card

Screen Data ConversionFollow the procedure below.

1. Open the desired screen data file for V7 converted from a V6 file.

2. Select [CF Card Setting] from the [System Setting] menu. The [CF Card] dialog is displayed.

3. Enter the desired name for [Access Folder Name] using a maximum of eight alphanumerics.

4. When the data logging function has been used:In the [CF Card] dialog, check the settings of these options [ Use Cache] and [ Format Buffering Area Automatically].

• When [ Use Cache] is unchecked:Data is written to the CF card at each data logging instance. Data can thus be saved even if a power failure suddenly occurs. Constant data sampling at several-second intervals will shorten CF card life.

17

Page 19: Conversion from V6 to V7 - プログラマブル表示器 ... · PDF fileConversion from V6 to V7 Notes on Hardware ... Use Hakko Electronics’ V7 printer cable V7-PT. Video input

Notes on Software

• When [ Use Cache] is checked:A V7 is given cache memory temporarily where sampling data is to be stored. Writing to the CF card will not be performed so often. Data is written to the CF card according to the fixed timing, such as when cache memory becomes full. As a result, extended CF card life is expected, but data may not be saved if a power failure suddenly occurs.

• Checking or unchecking [ Format Buffering Area Automatically]:Always check this option in the case of data conversion from V6.

• [Buffering Area Setting] selected from the [System Setting] menuIf [SRAM] is selected for [Store Target], select [CF Card].

5. When the dialog setting is concluded, save the screen data and transfer it to the V7.

Conversion of Data in Memory Card (Memory manager function)Data used for the recipe function, etc. must be imported from the memory card into a computer, converted into the data for CF card, and written to the card. Use the following editor software.

A. Importing memory card dataMemory card editor M-CARD SFTE

B. Converting data into the data for CF card and writing it to a CF cardCF card manager of the V-SFTE software

Follow the procedure below for conversion.A. Importing data from the memory card

1. Perform reading the V6 SRAM memory card under the memory card editor M-CARD SFTE and saving the data. The data is saved in a file with an extension “.mcd.”

For more information on cache, see “Chapter 23 CF Card (V7 Only)” in the Reference Manual (Function).
