Creating My Contents page
Step 1
Firstly, I inserted a background - the same background that I used for my contents page. All my content would be placed on this background.
Step 2
Secondly,.I Inserted my masthead right on top of the page, so it is easily seen. I decided to place it there, because I found that many music magazine contents pages had placed the masthead at the top of the page.
Step 3
I then added the date. Whilst researching into different magazines, I found that the date was always next to the masthead on the contents page, which is why I decided to place it beneath the masthead, I a black banner, making it stand out. Although it’s small, because it is not that important to the reader.
Step 4
Next I inserted ‘FEATURES’ in bold and in caps lock, behind a red banner, to make it stand out. I did this so the reader is aware of where to look on the page to find out the content of the magazine.
Step 5
I then added the subheadingS beneath ‘FEATURES’. the subheadings are in white and behind a black banner. I then added two sentences of brief discription of what that page consists off. This layout will not confuse the reader, as they can easily follow it.
Step 6
I then added an image of the new group in the music industry. The size of the image is quite big, I have done this because to gain the reader’s attention and to make them intrigued.
Step 7
After that, I inserted a text box near the end of the image, which informs the reader of their name and the page number to turn to so can read more about them. I inserted a pull quote, to further interest the reader. I used this idea from one of the magazines I had a look at.
Step 8
Next, I inserted a ‘EVERY MONTH’ and a ‘SUBSCRIBE’ box. I have inserted these, because I noticed mostly all magazines had included them in their magazines. This gets the reader more involved. With my previous research into different types of magazine, I found that these boxes were normally placed near the bottom of the page, which is why I decided to place them at the bottom.
Step 8
I inserted two more images of the artists who are also featured in my magazine. I have inserted page numbers and the names of the artists, to inform the reader of which page to turn to if they want to read more about them. I decided to use at least three images on my contents page, because I found that most magazines had lots of images included on their contents page to make it look more fun to look at.
Step 8
Finally, I inserted an editorial. This is another feature which was used for all contents pages. I decided to place this in the bottom left corner, because that is the last thing that I would want the reader to read. This is why I ‘EDITORIAL’ is behind a black banner and not a red banner.
