Surgeons at the Santa Cruz Hospital in the Portuguese capi- tal Lisbon said the 27-year-old was “doing well.” Sobral, who suffered from a longstanding heart condition, won this year’s contest with the love song “Amar Pelos Dois” (“Love for Both of Us”). It was the first time Portugal had taken the title. “The surgery went well,” said surgeon Miguel Abecasis, quoted by the Publico Daily (in Portuguese). “He was very well prepared. He is a young man who under- stood the difficulties of this type of procedure.” Abecasis said that before Friday’s operation the singer had wished him “good luck.” The recovery would take a long time, Abecasis added, but said that if all went well, Sobral would have “a completely normal life.” The singer had to wait several months until a suitable donor was found, Publico reported. He announced in September that he was taking a break from performing. Sobral’s winning ballad, writ- ten by his older sister, Luisa, made him a national hero in Portugal. He described it as “an emo- tional song with a beautiful lyrical message and harmony — things people are not used to hearing these days.” (SD-Agencies) Eurovision winner Salvador Sobral has heart transplant WARNER Bros. released a new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One,” and it takes a much deeper dive into Ernest Cline’s reference-stuffed digital fantasy world known as the OASIS. Based on Cline’s best-selling novel, the film follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), an ace gamer who lives in a dystopian Ohio in 2045. Like everyone else in society, he escapes his hellish reality by entering the OASIS, where he is an ace gamer known as Parzival. The OASIS is turned on its head when its late creator, James Halliday (Mark Rylance), announces a system-wide hunt for an Easter egg he’s hidden in the game. Whoever finds it gets control of the OASIS, as well as his entire fortune. With the help of another skilled treasure hunter named Art3mis (Olivia Cooke), Wade goes hunting for the Easter egg before it’s captured by the cor- porate giant Innovative Online Industries, whose CEO, Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn) has hired an army of gamers to find it first. Cline’s novel was known for dropping references to ’80s pop culture in almost every paragraph, but Spielberg’s film will also pull from more recent movies, TV shows and video games. The Iron Giant, who appeared in the film’s San Diego Comic- Con trailer, can be seen again here, and fans of the hit online shooter “Overwatch” will be surprised to find the game’s most popular character, Tracer, in this trailer running into battle alongside Chun-Li from “Street Fighter.” “Ready Player One” also stars Simon Pegg and T.J. Chelsea Lauren posted a video on social media that appeared to show Homme kicking her as she took pictures close to the stage Saturday night. “I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, who does that?,” she said. In a statement, Homme apologized and said he would never intentionally cause harm to someone. Lauren described the “obvi- ously very intentional” incident to Variety magazine. “I saw him coming over and I was shooting away,” she said. “He looked straight at me, swung his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me in the face.” She says she will file a police report. Lauren posted an update to Instagram along with two photographs she had taken seconds before the incident. She said her eyebrow was bruised and her neck was sore. “I hold nobody accountable for this but Josh himself,” she added. Homme, 44, issued an apol- ogy through the Queens of the Stone Age Twitter account. He said he was “in a state of being lost in performance” when he kicked over some equipment on stage and made contact with Lauren. “I hope Chelsea will accept my sincere apology,” he said. But the apology was criticized by some Twitter users, includ- ing Homme’s friend, celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, who branded it “weak.” Lauren later thanked the Queens of the Stone Age fan base for their support follow- ing the incident. It is not the first time Homme has been criticized for his on- stage behavior. In 2008, he was accused of homophobia after insulting a fan during a concert in Norway.
