Postgraduate Medical InstituteThe Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) at Edge HillUniversity brings together multi-professional expertise ineducating health professionals and research. It facilitatescollaboration with external partners on projects relevantto the wider health and social care community. The PGMIaims to improve the health and social care of peoplelocally, nationally, and internationally through education,research and innovation.
Education
The institute hosts a range of innovative postgraduateeducational programmes that support multi-professionaldevelopment. Accredited by professional bodies, manyof these programmes are delivered in collaboration withNHS Trusts and organisations.
ResearchThe institute supports a range of applied postgraduateresearch degrees which focus on topics relevant tohealthcare innovation in practice. Research undertakenby members of the institute span a range of topicsincluding clinical trials, Cochrane systematic reviews, andmedical education.
Enterprise and InnovationThe institute engages with external collaborators andpartners to develop innovative solutions for rapidlychanging healthcare settings. The institute undertakesimpartial evaluation of novel health provision, assessmentof the impact of commissioned services, and bespokeeducation based on training needs analyses.
The PGMI supports the development and delivery ofinnovative multi-professional education and research, to meetthe needs of an evolving health and social care environment.
What do we do?
We work with health and social care providers to identifyand develop new educational programmes, to meet theemerging needs of the healthcare workforce and to improvepatient care through support for research and development.
