Chapter 1.Overview

Your Patriot Power Generator 1500X is a highly integrated, off-grid solar generator with DC and AC charging and discharging, inverter and energy storage functions. It is robust, compact and energy saving. It is widely applicable for outdoor operations by recharging from a solar panel without electricity. It also can be recharged by electricity on consecutive rainy days. It can recharge mobile phones, tablets, computers, cameras and other products including lights, televisions, refrigerators, fans, hand drills and other common applications.

1.Damage caused willfully or by negligence will void the warranty at any point in the 365-day period. Willful or negligent damage is determined upon receipt and inspection of the unit. All refunds/returns will be processed after inspection for willful or negligent damage.

2. Any unit that has been altered or repaired by an unauthorized service is voided of any warranty.

3. All products must be returned with all included attachments and accessories unless otherwise directed when obtaining a customer service return authorization. The customer will be billed/charged for any missing attachments or accessories.

4. Warranty coverage extends to original owner only.

5. Any returned unit must be packaged safely and labeled clearly. Any damage caused by poor packaging when returning the unit is the responsibility of the customer and may void the warranty.

6. Products that are not authorized for return as per customer service will not be accepted.

7. At our discretion, units will be repaired or replaced.


Chapter 9.Terms of Service

The warranty on this product is one year from the date of delivery to the customer.

What is covered:Defects in materials or workmanship.Units that have been authorized to return via your customer service and return authorizarion process.

What is not covered:• Damage or defect caused willfully or through negligence.

• Damage caused through excessive wear and tear.

• Cosmetic blemishes, scratches or dents acquired through the course of regular use.

• Damage caused by use of the unit with unsafe, unregulated or inappropriate products, devices, power sources or power consumption.

• Damage resulting from use of the product for anything other than what it is intended for. This warranty does not cover damage caused when the unit is used as a footstool, wheel chock, doorstop or flotation device (it does not float, is not waterproof and may cause bodily injury or death if used as a flotation device).

• Any return not previously authorized by our team.

All defective units will be replaced with a unit of the same model that was originally purchased.

Store and use in a clean and dry environment. Water damage caused by exposure to the elements will not be covered.

Chapter 2.Operation

2.1 Power On and Power Off

2.1.1 Power On

Before using the device, you must turn on the master switch (manual type). Please follow the steps below:

1) Turn on the master switch. 2) Plug in AC cord into generator socket. 3) Plug AC cord into wall.4) Turn AC charging button to on position. 5) When charging it will show a red light indicating it is charging.6) When light is white, AC charging is complete.

2.3.1 Solar Charging

1) Before charging, please refer to section 6.1.2) Turn on the master switch.3) Unfold the solar panels, and prop the bracket up. Place the solar panels under sunlight. By adjusting the elastic strap, try to keep the solar panels perpendicular to the sunshine.4) Once the solar panels are connected to the unit, the LCD will display the solar charging status. When the voltage shown reaches 27.4V, it will indicate that the battery is fully charged and the controller will automatically stop solar charging to the battery.

33. What happens if I have something running off the generator and it overloads?

If over-loaded, the inverter will sound a beeping alert and shut itself off. And the backlight of the AC output switch will blink.

Important reminder: Inverter AC output has workload requirements as follows:

1) Inductive load (juicer, mill, blender, fan, soy milk maker, electric drill, etc.) should be less than 500 watts;

2) Resistive load (light, PC, tablet, electric kettle, etc.) should be less than 1500w.

If you believe you have a solar panel with a different connector that will not fit your Patriot Power Generator, we will be happy to send you an adapter at no additional cost to you (once we confirm receipt of the incompatible connector).

27. The red to red and black to black do not fit for the solar panels.

It may appear that the two connectors do not work, however, if you simply slide them into each other they will connect. If this is not possible, please call customer service.

28. My Patriot Power Generator 1500X won’t hold a charge.a) Please make sure that when you store your unit, your key is removed from the master power lock from the front of the unit and stored with the other generator accessories. This ensures the unit is completely powered down. The Patriot Power Generator will retain 60 percent of its 960 watt-hours capacity after 6 months of storage.

b) Perform a master reset and try charging again. If your unit is still not holding a charge, please call customer service.

29. What do I do if my AC switch goes to red?AC input switch – The AC input button is a two-color switch. A red backlight means the unit is charging via AC socket currently. A white backlight means that the battery is fully charged.

AC output switch – The AC output button only has one color of light – white. A continuous white backlight means that AC output is on and working correctly. If the white backlight blinks and sounds a beep, it means an abnormal AC output. Unplug your appliance and troubleshoot.

30. How do I know if this unit will run what I want?To determine this, you must know the amount of wattage that the appliance is using. We cannot provide this information due to different models and variations of certain appliances. You would have to find on the appliance where the manufacturer information is. If the watts are not displayed, take the number of volts and times it by the number of amps; this will equal watts.

31. Can I use someone else’s panels with this unit?This is not recommended for our unit. The main reason is that we do not know the design of the other manufacturer’s panel. If it caused any damage to the unit, it would void its warranty.

32. Are the solar panels waterproof?No. These panels are water resistant. They are designed to be able to take some weather abuse on the front side of the panel; however, the underside of the panel is not waterproof at all. It does have capacitors inside the black boxes that, if wet, could damage the panel and prevent it from working.

2.4.1 5V DC USB Outputs

1) USB output ports include USB 5V/1A and 5V/2.1A, which can charge a tablet, PC, LED lights and other 5V digital products.2) Use Medusa universal cell phone charger (5 tips) or USB cable of mobile phone to charge all kinds of mobile phones.

2.4.2 12V DC Cigarette Lighter Output

The Patriot Power Generator 1500X will accommodate power draws going out of the 12V DC cigarette lighter output of up to 120 watts.

2.4.3 12V DC Anderson Output

The Patriot Power Generator 1500X can support power draws going out of the 12V DC Anderson output of up to 240 watts. The positive pole and negative pole cannot be reverse connected.

The device supports the solar charging with the AC charging concurrently. When you need fast charging, this method can be used.

Chapter 3.Operating Principle

With sunlight during the day, the solar modules produce a certain elec-tromotive force, providing the input voltage needed by the system. The battery is then charged through the charging and discharging controller, converting the light energy into electricity and storing it into the battery. In the night, the battery pack provides power to the inverter. The inverter converts DC into AC power, which outputs to AC load. The battery pack provides input power to the controller. The controller outputs power to the DC load.

the northern hemisphere) at noon in an open area. The panel will produce less power before and after noon and at angles that are not axially tangent to the relative path of the sun. Solar panels will produce little to no power if they are placed in a shaded area, behinda window or next to a sun-obstructing object. Remember, shadows move, so an object that is next to the solar panel may not create a shadow during one time of the day but may produce a shadow for some or all of the rest of the day. Solar panels will produce little power if placed vertically and no power if placed facing the ground.

25. How do I know when my Patriot Power Generator 1500X is fully discharged?

The Patriot Power Generator has an LCD display that will show the voltage which will be around 21-22 volts and the battery meter will be blank. These will let you know the status of your battery while charging or discharging. Do not attempt to discharge the Patriot Power Generator 1500X once the battery status bar shows there is no power left. Doing so will cause damage to the unit and will void your warranty. An audible sound may occur when your unit gets to two bars on the battery meter. This is normal, and it will continue to beep until the unit completely shuts itself off to save battery power so that it can restart.

If you have a device (such as a laptop computer with an AC 120V power cable) connected to the Patriot Power Generator and are using the device as it charges, the generator battery will drain more quickly. To prolong the usable life of your devices on the battery, turn them off while they charge and disconnect them from the generator when you are ready to use them. You should fully drain the battery of each device and turn it off again before connecting it to the Patriot Power Generator to recharge. Leaving the device on while charging may give the illusion of using less energy because the battery of your device will show full charge, but you are in fact using almost three times the energy that you would if you were to disconnect it from the Patriot Power Generator.

26. I can’t connect my solar panel to my Patriot Power Generator 1500X.

If a Patriot Power Generator solar panel was included in your order, your solar panel will come with Anderson Power pole connectors, which the Patriot Power Generator is specifically designed to connect with. There are four sets of these connectors to use with any DC 12V input. These connectors are small and rectangular with one side that is red and another side that is black. Always connect black to black and red to red.

While the ends of the connectors may appear flat and not able to connect to a similar connector, they are specially made to slide together. Simply match up the colors on the input side and push them together gently to form a solid connection. The solar panel connectors that fit your Patriot Power Generator are engineered only

23. I left my solar panel (not a Patriot Power Generator 1500X panel) connected to my generator overnight, and now it has less charge than it had the evening before.

Batteries will not gain any power from a solar panel at night. It may even deplete the battery if connected poorly (e.g., without a 12 volt solar charge controller or hooked up to the wrong connections). Electricity is a two-way street and will flow to and from the source and to and from the destination depending on the current, charge and power draw, as well as a few other factors. Unless electricity is governed and controlled with technology, such as a solar charge controller, you cannot be assured of the results when charging with solar panels, batteries or other electronic components. Solar panels only produce electricity with the presence of sunlight. When a solar panel is not exposed to sun or is connected to a battery without a solar charge controller, the electricity in the battery will flow back to the panel in the form of heat. The panels will become warm, as an electric blanket would, and may drain the connected battery.

Please note: Do not use solar panels as heat sources. The other peril of ungoverned solar charging batteries is that you may overcharge and damage the battery. This is unsafe and will not give you more energy. In fact, it will most likely reduce the charge because of the damage caused to the battery. The battery may swell and become warm. Do not use a swollen battery. Instead, carefully dispose of it in a legal and safe manner. Disconnect your Patriot Power Generator from any charging source when it is not charging. Unlike lead-based batteries, the lithium-based Patriot Power Generator does not need to be kept on a trickle charger or have the charger plugged in constantly to retain a charge.

The solar panels that you ordered with your Patriot Power Generator 1500X are specifically designed to avoid this power backflow.

24. My Patriot Power Generator won’t charge when I connect my solar panels to it.

Solar panels work best when pointed, without obstruction, directly at the sun. The solar panel will not produce an adequate charge if it is:

• Not pointed toward the sun • Placed behind a window (30-70 percent less efficient depending on window type) • Used indoors • Positioned in shade • Not connected to the Patriot Power Generator, either directly or by using an approved extension cable. • Used with an unapproved or excessively long extension cable.

Please make sure your key is inserted into the master power lock onthe back of the unit and is turned to the on position. The optimum position of the solar panel is slightly angled to the south (if you live in

rest but should be used only as an estimate while the generator is being actively charged or discharged.

The best way to know when your Patriot Power Generator 1500X will be fully charged is to calculate approximate charge time: 3.5–4.5 hours of charge time while it is connected to a steady AC 120V source or a full day of unobstructed sunlight if using the solar panel. Use two of these panels to charge your unit even faster. Your generator is fully charged when the backlight on the charging power button goes from red to white and reads between 27.4 to 29.6V. To be sure it has reached full charge, power down the generator for 10 minutes, then turn it back on to check readings. Occasionally, the generator will read fully charged but after 10 minutes of reset time to balance charges and calm surges it will find more space.

19. My Patriot Power Generator stops working when I turn up the power on my space heater while using the generator to power my TV.

The Patriot Power Generator 1500X will accommodate all power draws going out of the AC 110V output of approximately 1000 watts. Most space heaters draw more than 1500 watts at the higher settings. Experiment to find the optimal balance between energy conservation and heat output while enjoying your entertainment.

20. My Patriot Power Generator 1500X got wet and now will not turn on.

It is possible to damage the Patriot Power Generator when it is used improperly or in harsh conditions. If your Patriot Power Generator is submerged in water, do not turn it on or touch it. The Patriot Power Generator contains a powerful battery, and when it comes into contact with water or any other conductive equivalent, it will create an unsafe environment, void the warranty and may cause serious injury or death. Additionally, the Patriot Power Generator is not rated for dropping from any height.

21. The Patriot Power Generator 1500X will not run my microwave after I used it to watch TV.

The Patriot Power Generator 1500X only has a certain amount of power to work appliances. It is estimated at 1000 watts for a fully charged battery and discharge time will vary depending on how many watts are being used.

22. I turned off the power switches on my Patriot Power Generator 1500X, but the unit's fan is still on. Should I be worried?

No. After you turn off the power switches, but before you turn the master power key to the off position, the Patriot Power Generator 1500X's fan may continue to run to cool the internal components to optimal temperatures. The fan may also run while the unit is charging but is not being used to power any devices.

11. How do I charge it using the AC (wall plug in my house)?Plug the AC cord from the generator into the wall. Make sure the key in the front of the generator is in the on position. Next, make sure the button near the AC plug is in the off position (you will know it is off because there is no backlight). If any green lights are on in the front of the generator, this means that the switches are on (turn them off). Once you have the AC plugged into the generator and the wall, press the power button next to the charging port. If charging correctly, you will see a red light appear behind the button and when it is fully charged the light will go white. Charging time can vary from 3.5 hours to 5 hours (the unit should not be charged any longer than 5 hours.) Do not leave a unit unattended while charging!

12. How do I charge my Patriot Power Generator 1500X with my solar panel?

(1) Use red master key to turn on the unit. (2) Place the solar panels under good sunlight.(3) Connect solar panel to extension cord. (4) Connect extension cord to Solar Input ports on the generator.

Best practice is for the generator unit itself to be kept inside, or under shelter to reduce wear and tear and to help prevent overheating.

13. My generator is not charging. Please check to ensure the AC charging button is depressed. If it is, turn it off, wait five seconds and then turn it on again. If this does not work, perform master reset. If that does not work, call tech support.

14. How do I perform a master reset?a) Step 1: turn off all buttons and unplug all appliances. b) Step 2: turn red master key to off position and remove it from unit. Wait 5 seconds, turn on unit with master key, and proceed to proper usage instructions. c) If this does not reset unit, please call technical support.

15. What does the 1500 mean?This is the model number and also the size of the inverter (1500 W).

16. Why does it not read watts when I have nothing plugged in?The LCD display will not read any watts and only shows volts; please pay attention to the battery meter for usage.

17. How long will this battery last?This unit is rated for 2000+ lifecycles. This means it can charge and discharge over 2000 times before needing to be replaced.

18. My fully discharged Patriot Power Generator 1500X’s LCD battery gauge looks like it is fully charged almost immediately after I start charging it. Is it fully charged?

No. While your generator is actively charging or discharging, you may notice fluctuations or spikes in voltage because the chemical components of the lithium phosphate battery easily and immediatelyaccept charge or discharge. The LCD battery gauge uses the battery voltage to gauge the charge remaining. This method is effective at

3. How do I properly use my AC socket?First, you will turn the master key to the on position. Next, you will plug your appliance into the socket on the unit. Ensure your appliance is in the off position. Next, turn the AC switch to the on position by depressing the metal button next to the GFI outlet. Then turn your appliance to the on position.

4. Can I buy another extension cord for the panel?No, this offer is currently not available. If your extension cord is damaged, please call customer service.

5. What are the dimensions, weight and operating temperature of this unit and solar panel?

The Patriot Power Generator 1500X is compact, and powerful. It weighs only 53 pounds and at only 13.5” W x 11.5” L x 15.5” H, is small enough to go anywhere you need. It comes with both carrying handles and a handcart to help you take your generator anywhere you need to go.

6. What is the solar panel made out of?Monocrystal panel utilizing silicon, aluminum and impact resistant glass.

8. How long will it take for me to get my generator?Your Patriot Power Generator 1500X will come shipped to you in a total of four packages. One box will contain the generator, 6 watt USB LED lamp, top case with pocket, adjustable shoulder strap, and universal cell phone adaptor, red master key and tether strap for the red key itself; one will contain the foldable solar panel and the 25-foot extension cord that connects the solar panel to the generator; one will contain the handcart and one solar panel; one will contain the two Patriot Power Hubs. All of these packages will come to you from within the USA and we expect them to reach your door within 10-14 business days of you placing your order. All boxes except the Patriot Power Hubs will be shipped via FedEx; The box containg the Patriot Power Hubs will be shipped via UPS. Please note that signature delivery is required for these products. (Currently we do not ship outside of the 48 contiguous United States.)

9. How do you turn the unit on?Remove the weather cover on the front of the unit, place the red key into the master power lock, and then turn the key clockwise to turn it on.

10. What do I do when I am done using it?Storing the unit keyed on can damage your battery and decrease its capacity. Always turn the unit off by pressing the power button near the AC plugs, turning the red master key to the off position and removing the key from the master power lock. Place the red master key in the attached storage bag and replace the weather-proof cover over the generator unit.

The generator is quiet and efficient, lasting up to 2000+ complete lifecycles. This unit has a 40-amp hour battery (meaning 1 amp per hour for a total of 40 amp hours).

symbol on LCD blinks, indicating that the battery is being charged by solar panel. When the voltage shown reaches around 28V, it indicates that the battery is fully charged and the controller will stop solar charging to the battery

automatically.
