Here his symphonies are brilliantly performed and recorded for Melodiya from 1965–1967 by the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra of the USSR under Gennady Rozhdestvensky. The recording of the 7th and last symphony was awarded the ‘Grand Prix du Disque’ of Academie Charles Cros in France.

He describes the composer’s music drama, L’Histoire du soldat, as a 'surrealistic fairy tale for grown-up children'. With scenery and costumes by John MacFarlane, this studio recording features Nacho Duato as the soldier who sells his soul to the Devil for wealth, but is forced to wander the world.
