Prior to beginning of construction, abatement of hazardous materials took place.Karen Willig of Enercore Services is removing roof materials to test for asbestos.

Abatement proceeds with removal of three layers of old roofing.

Doors and windows are removed from the site to storage.Some went to Sacramento for restoration, these were returned wrapped in protective material. Others were placed directly into storage.

On March 3rd, a gala start of construction event was held in front of the Tong Building.It began with a traditional Chinese lion dance.

The celebration featured speakers who represented agencies key to the successful launching of Phase 1.The speaker at the podium is Don Nottoli, Sacramento District 5 County Supervisor. On the right is Mimi Morris, Executive Officer of the CCHE. On the left is Mark Bettencourt, Mayor of Isleton.

A temporary center wall was constructed to help stabilize the building during construction. Tilt-up jacks used to erect concrete tilt-up buildings were employed to bring the structure back to vertical.

Existing concrete was broken up and removed to make way for footings for restoration of the façade.

The metal siding as well as the shiplap siding that was under it were removed.These will be replaced by 1/2 inch plywood sheets and new metal siding.

Forms are completed and ready for concrete to be poured
