Constructing a Triangle

Step 1- Draw a circle with any diameter. Step 2- Draw a line from any where on the

outer edge of the circle to the center point. Step 3-Draw another line from the center

point to the outside edge at a 120 degree angle from the first line.

Constructing a triangle (cont.)

Step 4-Draw a final line from the center line to the outer edge, at a 120 degree angle from the other 2 lines.

Step 5-Connect all the points and you’ve constructed an equilateral triangle!

Constructing a Square

Step 1-Draw a circle of any diameter. Step 2-Draw a line from the outer edge to the

center point. Step 3-Draw another line from the edge to the

center point at a 90 degree angle from the first line.

Step 4-Draw another line from the center point to the outer edge at a 90 degree angle from one of the lines.

Step 5-Draw the final line from the center point to the edge at a 90 degree angle to the two line with space left between them.

Step 6-Connect all the lines and you’ve successfully constructed a square!

Finding the Area of a triangle

Step 1-Find the height (see formula page) of the triangle.

Step 2-Multiply the height by half of the base. You’ve just found the area of a triangle.

Finding the area of a square

Step 1-Multiply one of the side lengths by 2. You’ve just found the area of a square.

Formulas

Area of a triangle-1/2 base times height (to find height use Pythagorem theorem)

Area of a square-base times height OR side squared

Size of inside angle for constructions-360 divided by number of sides
