Press notice of e-tender for construction of Technology Incubation Center (TIC) of GBP

has been released by PWD (Building), GoA. Bid value of the work is Rs. 32,18,33,362.00 and

the time of completion is 24 months.

� DBT, GoI Expert Team comprising of Dr. Mohd. Aslam, Advisor (Scientist 'G'),

Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI, New Delhi

and Shri Nitin Deshmukh, CEO, Kotak Private Equity, Mumbai visited GBP on 20 April

2017. The team had a structured discussion with the CEO, GBP and other officials of GBP

focussing on the statutory structure, management, funding contributions, objectives,

infrastructure, business development activities, incubatees and financials of the Park. The

team also acquainted themselves with the various equipments and facilities of the Park.

April 2017 as part of the initiative for

framing the start-up policy for Assam.

� Dr. P. Sanjeeva Rao, Advisor, Science and

Engineering Research Board (SERB),

DST, GoI, New Delhi visited GBP on 3

April 2017. He showed an active interest

in the activities of the park and had an

elaborate discussion with the staff. It may

be mentioned that the recent seminar on

'Entrepreneurial Opportunities in

Biotechnology' organised by GBP on 10

March 2017 was funded by SERB.

� A group of interns at GBP were taken on an

industrial visit to ERIS Life Sciences Ltd.,

Kamrup on 11 April 2017. The tour was co-

ordinated by their supervisor Dr. Madan G.

Barthakur, Senior Scientist, GBP. The

company is focussed on bio-pharma sector

especially in drug manufacturing and

formulations. The interns gained lot of

exposure on drug manufacturing processes

and related industrial components during

the visit.

Site inspection of the pond

at Hayagreeva Madhava Temple, Hajo, Kamrup

A survey on the abnormal death of fish in

the historical pond of Hayagreeva Madhava

Temple, Hajo, Kamrup was undertaken by Dr.

Madan G. Barthakur, Senior Scientist, GBP on

25 April 2017. Based on the site investigation

and preliminary tests at GBPIC, a report was

compiled and submitted through CEO, GBP

for the preparation of a Concept Note to

address this serious biodiversity issue with

effective solution by the GoA. Other institutes

like NIPER, Guwahati, IICT, Hyderabad, etc.

are also associated with this study.

A group of thirty two (32) students of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Girijananda

Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology (GIMT), Guwahati along with three (3)

faculty members visited the laboratory space of GBP on 21 April, 2017 as part of an educational

tour. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Bula Choudhury, Senior Scientist, Dr. Madan G.

Barthakur, Senior Scientist, Dr. Saurav Dey, Technical Officer and Dr. Ashma Begum, Research

Associate of GBP during which the students were provided exposure to the various facilities and

the instruments available in the Park.
