DAY 1: The Journey Begins

Begin your adventure by crossing into village life where you will be welcomed with an array of different colours, smells and smiling people. After tasting the traditional foods of North Sumatra, you will conclude your drive in Tangkahan, where your wildlife experience will commence.

DAY 2: Jungle Trekking & Cave Exploration

B, L, D

Push yourself with a challenging trek through beautiful jungle landscapes consisting of rocky outcrops and winding river systems to a hidden cave system. Here you will explore the endless branches of limestone corridors, filled with the sights and sounds of thousands of bats. Emerging from the cave, you are greeted with a picnic lunch. Swim in the river, relax in the hot spring and take in the beautiful jungle landscape. Conclude the day with a river tube back down to GreenLodge. This is one of the most beautiful landscapes you will witness!

10am Pick up from hotel/ airport & drive to Tangkahan

12pm Lunch stop at Batang Sarangan & Explore the Traditional Markets.

3pm Arrive in Tangkahan

4pm Afternoon tea and meet the elephants. Watch them socialising

DAY 3: River Tubing

After interacting with the elephants, get prepared to river tube and float down the incredible Batang-Serangan River. You will travel past local villages, fruiting gardens and through an array of beautiful jungle landscapes. Make sure you look out for monkeys, monitor lizards and other inconspicuous wildlife that hide along the river banks! Stop for a picnic lunch and return to GreenLodge in the back of a pick-up truck. Later that night, we will give a presentation on the community & conservation work Raw Wildlife Encounters is supporting.

DAY 4: Jungle Camping

B, L, D

Relax, wash the elephants, swim or read a book before setting off on a jungle trek. Cross rivers and jungle landscapes to a secluded cave, where you will enjoy the night of fun and hospitality under a 30-foot waterfall.

Elephant Washing & Socialising, Elephant feeding.

11am River Tubing to 7 Island (Local Village)

1pm Picnic Lunch

Relax, read a book, or have a drink on the river foreshore.

Afternoon Tea in village.

Pick-up from local village in a pick-up truck and return to

DAY 5: Jungle trekking and simple pleasures

Wake up early and set-off on a morning trek throughout the jungle. This morning is all about listening to the jungle come alive, whilst recording what you see and hear. It is here our guides will showcase their intimate knowledge of the sights and sounds of the jungle. Several trek locations ensure you take in the beauty of the jungle, sounds of the gibbons and awe-inspiring view. Immerse yourself deep in the jungle and look out for its inhabitants. Binoculars and camera is a must have!

DAY 6: Bukit Lawang

B, L, D

Today you will depart Tangkahan to Bukit Lawang. Known for its orangutans, Bukit Lawang will greet you into a new landscape and environment.

DAY 7: Orangutans

B,L

As you are greeted by the friendly forest rangers, you will follow them into the jungle searching for orangutans. The rangers will monitor the health condition of the animals and document important research information that pertains to the conservation of this species. Finish your morning experience off with viewing these amazing apes at the feeding platform. Adventure concludes with visiting the vibrant street of Medeka Walk. Have dinner and reminisce about your experience.
