Bella Vista will be holding two separate events on the evening of July 3 to celebrate our independence. Both events will conclude with The City of Bella Vista’s annual fireworks display held just after dark on Loch Lomond dam. Lakepoint Restaurant and Event Center will have a celebration with food, games and entertainment before the fireworks display. On the menu is BBQ Ribs, Fried Chicken, Grilled Hamburgers and Hotdogs with all the summer fixings served in the Sunset Room with dining both inside and on the back lawn. Attendees will also receive a drink ticket for wine and/or beer and can enjoy lawn games and a DJ playing everyone’s favorite tunes. The party starts at 6 p.m. until the end of the fireworks show. Ticket Sales Only - $39 per ticket begins Friday, June 1. Parking passes issued with ticket sales. Bring your own lawn chairs. 5% discount with Member ID and 10% with Member Photo ID.

The Bella Vista Foundation and the Bella Vista Arts Council are jointly presenting the Blues Festival below Loch Lomond dam on Glasgow Road. The display is open to the public and the Bella Vista Police Department will be directing vehicles for parking starting at 5 p.m. Fireworks start at dusk following the concert. The concert opens with the Downtown Live Wires at 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The Downtown Livewires are based in Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville/Fayetteville), and play high-energy electric blues/rock, Memphis blues, and legacy blues. Their music is timeless and classic, always makes the crowd dance and sing along. The Cate Brothers start at 7:30 p.m. and play until 9 p.m. or until the fireworks start (if they do an encore.) The Cate Brothers are the singer-songwriter-musician, twin brothers from Fayetteville, who play southern country rock and blues. There will be up to five food trucks. Bring your blankets, folding chairs, coolers and relax and enjoy the show!

Golf News & UpdatesNew 2 Golf ProgramStarting in June, there will be a new golf instruction program called New 2 Golf. All the classes will be in a group setting and will be a shorter, less expensive variation of our Get Golf Ready programs. New 2 Golf is designed to introduce new golfers to the culture, skill, and fun of the game. Golf can be an intimidating sport, so the goals of this program are to introduce new golfers to the etiquette, rules, how to play, and the simple, basic swing fundamentals. Each New 2 Golf class will be two sessions for the price of $40. Each session will last one hour and the instruction topics will include: putting, chipping and the full swing. Classes will be open to Members and Non-Members and are for men and women. PGA Professionals Gavin Smith and Alex Sanford will be the instructors for the New 2 Golf classes. The Beach at Lake Avalon is Open! The Beach at Lake Avalon is open daily from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Enjoy the white sand beach and other great amenities like sand volleyball, children’s zipline playground area, kayak and paddleboard rentals, concessions and picnicking. The Beach admittance fees are the same as the pool fees and if you have a season pool pass you may also use it at The Beach.

Branchwood 18-hole Disc Golf Course The Bella Vista POA is pleased to announce the Branchwood Disc Golf Course will open soon. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc or Frisbee®. The upcoming 18-hole course will utilize what was previously the Branchwood Golf Course, as well as the surrounding wooded space to provide an experience accessible to newcomers yet challenging to experienced players. There is no charge to play the course. A high-quality disc costs less than $15, and one disc is all that is needed for recreational play. Branchwood Disc Golf Course will be an exciting expansion to the POA’s already robust and affordable outdoor recreational and fitness amenities.

Fireflies & Tailgating - Community Event at Blowing Springs June 16 Get back to simple summertime fun with this free community event. The POA invites you to grab your lawn chairs and enjoy a laid-back evening in the park. Bring your own drinks and side dishes and don’t forget your Mason Jars to catch the fireflies. Hotdogs will be available for purchase. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Blowing Springs Park by the picnic area and large parking lot in the back of the park. No reservations required, just show up! Watch for more information on Facebook.

Branchwood Rec Center Closed for Renovations The project continues now that the expansion for the new fitness area is framed in. The existing building is now being renovated including updating the lobby and locker rooms. The building is expected to remain closed until late September. Tours are available during construction on the second Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.

NOTE: Gun range key will be available at Highlands Pro Shop during closing.

Meter Change Out ProgramBella Vista POA Water Utility will begin a Water Meter Change Out Program. Every water meter in the system will be changed to a Badger water meter with Orion Cellular capabilities. This new system has many advantages, primarily the ability to monitor customer consumption on a 15 minute interval. This is a powerful tool for the Water Utility and for the customer to address customer side leaks and other water consumption concerns. Sporting News & UpdatesStepped-Up Lake Ranger PresenceAdditional lake rangers have been hired to enforce regulations especially related to power boat sport activities on Lakes Ann, Windsor, and Lomond. The POA now requires that boats under power above idle speed with the intention of creating a wake be 150 feet from shore, dock, or other boat. For all other boats, the regulation remains 100 feet. Skiing and wakeboarding are only allowed in the main waterbody of these three lakes in designated areas in a counterclockwise pattern. Compliance with these regulations will prevent more restrictive rules in the future.

Basic Pistol ClassDesigned with beginners in mind, learn the fundamental skills and knowledge for responsibly owning and operating a pistol. Learn about gun safety, pistol parts and operation, ammunition types and the foundations for safe and accurate shooting. Approximately 8 hours of classroom time and roughly 2 hours of range instruction. Class will be three days, classroom portions will occur during weeknight evening hours with a weekend range time. Training firearms and ammunition will be provided as well as all in-classroom training materials. Class Instruction: June 12 & 14 / July 17 Cost: $135.00 per Member - $140.00 per Non-Member Limited to 6 students

NEW Enhanced Concealed Carry Class Starting in June, the Bella Vista Gun Range will begin to offer classes for the Arkansas Enhanced Concealed Carry permit. The class reintroduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun for personal protection. The class will also address the responsibilities of carrying a handgun in populated and volatile areas. Students will learn how to correctly and responsibly interact with law enforcement and the general public. This course will also teach what to do when confronted with an active shooting situation, along with Arkansas Laws pertaining to carrying a concealed handgun under these new stressful and volatile situations. Classes will be broken into two sessions of 3 hours each for knowledge and 2 hour skills training on a live range.

Students will be required to complete the basic Conceal Carry Class prior to taking the Enhanced Class. Students will be required to bring the following equipment to ensure a safe training and qualification:
