A Guide for Local Businesses

SHOW YOUR ONE CARD & SAVEWayne State’s Show Your One Card & Save program provides discounts to students, faculty and staff when they show their campus ID at participating local businesses. We advertise the program at campus events, via email and on social media, and through Larky, a mobile app with information on the various discounts. Details: Participation is FREE! CAMPUS VENDOR TABLES Wayne State’s Student Center welcomes nearly 20,000 students, staff and visitors each day. A 6’ table is available to local businesses and organizations seeking to advertise or sell services and non-food products. Reservations provide access for an entire day; the Student Center is busiest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Details: Tables are $80/day. Click here to learn more.

TABLE ADVERTISEMENTSTable advertisements in the Student Center and dining halls run $100/week, which covers the cost of printing and displaying 230 table tents. Students have said these are something they notice. Design services are available through Student Center Graphics in the Student Center. Details: Table tents are $100/week. Click here to learn more.

FOOD TRUCKSA limited number of food trucks are permitted to vend on campus. Participating vendors are required to obtain/provide proof of insurance, licensure with the State (an STFU license), a digital copy of their menu and pictures of the truck. TECHTOWNTechTown is a business innovation hub with office, co-working and event space. The SHOP, TechTown’s pop-up retail space, is typically open on Wednesdays. The Fueling Station, TechTown’s pop-up restaurant, is open between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on pre-scheduled dates. These pop-ups are a great way to connect TechTown’s more than 50 business and nonprofit tenants.Details: Costs vary. Click here to learn more.

PLACEMAKING SPONSORSHIPSWayne State’s Placemaking Initiative strives to make campus a more inviting and welcoming community gathering space. Sponsorships of $500 and up give your business visibility and help support placemaking projects such as Walk [Wayne State] signage, flexible outdoor seating, bike parking, public art exhibits, holiday lights and food truck rallies. DETROIT ZONE AT FESTIFALL FestiFall takes place in late August/early September and welcomes over 2,000 students and their families to campus. The Office of Economic Development organizes the Detroit Zone, which features more than 60 local businesses and organizations that sell local goods and/or do important and exciting work in Detroit. MIDTOWN DEALS & DISCOUNTS GUIDE Wayne State and TechTown produce an annual Midtown Deals & Discounts Guide, where local businesses can purchase advertising. We distribute approximately 20,000 copies of the guide on campus and in the Midtown neighborhood and feature one business/week in Wayne State’s daily e-newsletter, Today@Wayne. Details: Ads run from $125-$475. Sign up in May/June by emailing [email protected].

TASTE OF DETROITTaste of Detroit, which takes place during Wayne State’s annual Welcome Week, is a celebration of the delicious food greater Downtown Detroit has to offer. Participation is open to restaurants in the Midtown and Downtown areas. You bring the food. We provide everything else, including more than 800 hungry students and staff. FARMERS MARKETSEED Wayne’s Farmers Market offers a range of affordable fresh and prepared foods, serving those who live or work on campus or elsewhere in Midtown and nearby neighborhoods. You can find the market in front of Wayne State’s Reuther Library (5401 Cass Ave.) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays from June-October. Details: Costs vary. Wayne State’s Office of Economic Development is committed to connecting our campus community to local businesses in the greater Midtown area. In addition to the opportunities mentioned here, our office is working across the university and with local partners to bring new retail offerings to campus.
