God will work everything you give Him for good, both good and bad. God makes things beautiful, brings healing and makes things whole. Help others bring God into every part of life –the good parts and those deepest, darkest parts that need God the most! Jesus’ presence transforms you. This enables you to reflect Jesus and walk with integrity. Jesus’ presence also gives you a heart to disciple others. Help others to see what a life in God’s presence LOOKs like. People struggle to understand anything they haven’t seen, so make Jesus visible in you. Let others observe a life in God’s presence. Be that role model. The goal of discipleship is to have the image and likeness of Christ restored. When you disciple another, the goals is Godly transformation of heart and mind by God’s power, not just an improvement in behaviour. Discipleship is a journey TOGETHER. It is providing opportunities to watch, learn, try and experiment, then to do. Whether ministering, serving or worshipping, do it together. Invite another to watch and learn, to get involved, and to give it a try. As their skill and confidence develop, step back and give greater independence. Disciple them and let them disciple you in return. Grow together. Every step forward, every good thing God does on the journey, celebrate! Acknowledge the goodness of God and the miracle of growth in each other. Connecting with Jesus gives you an experience of Jesus. You see his character and experience his faithfulness. The story of who Jesus is, and what Jesus has done in your life, is your gift to help others find hope in Jesus themselves. Every culture and tribe has stories. These tell who they are, and what matters to them as a people. Your life, words and attitudes also write a story. This story tells others who you are and what your value. Choose to write a story of God’s faithfulness in your life and relationships. At the heart of discipleship is understanding. Discipline corrects behaviour in the short term, but disempowers. Discipleship is about guiding in understanding so others can make the best possible choices for life and eternity. Empower others to take hold of God and their own life by grace.
