Where is Coniston?Coniston is a little town in Cumbria. It takes

us 2 hours to get up the motorway to beautiful Coniston.

We have been here before in 2010 and 2013 when Katie did her Great North Swim in

Winderemere.

Park coppice caravan sitePark Coppice is a beautiful caravan park on

the outskirts of Coniston. The caravan site is situated 5 miles away from Coniston and 1

mile away from the water. We will be staying on the caravan site from

Saturday 16th August- Sunday 23rd August 2015.

Brantwood & ruskinBrantwood is one of the main attractions in Coniston.

This was the house and grounds of the writer John Ruskin who lived in Coniston. Hid house and grounds can be

seen from Coniston Lake. Today, visitors can explore and see the majestic rooms

where Ruskin wrote many of his letters and novels. There is also gardens, grounds, sbop and café to visit to.

Coniston lakeConiston Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Cumbira. This has been the site of swimming and

boating.Today, the lake is a tourist attraction and a

beautiful place to walk, take photographs or swim or cruise on a canoe or kayaking boat.

Steam GonaldonaThe Steam Gonaldona is a old fashioned boat that travels on Coniston Water daily. You can book tickets to go on the

boat from Brantwood or the internet.The boat only takes 20 minutes from Brantwood to

Coniston Pier, this allows you to travel on the water and see the remarkable birds and water. When you get to Coniston Pier, it is only 5 miles to walk into Coniston.

amblesideAmbleside is a pretty village in Cumbria. This is a

local and lovely town that has many shops, variety of cafes, pubs and a gentle walk near the

lake. Ambleside is also near to Grasmere and

Windermere. The town is also occupied by it’s lake and River with glorious walks for the dogs to do.

GrasemereGrasemere is a local town in Cumbira. This is

where the famous Gingerbread is made and also William Wordsworth home and where he is buried.The town is also situated on a river and also has

lovely walks into Grasemere and near to the River and bridge.

Beatrix potter houseBeatrix Potter was a famous writer and lived in Cumbria and Scotland. She owned a family house on Hill Top farm

which is outside of Ambleside and Coniston. The house was built in the 18th century before Potter lived

in the house before dying, she loved the Cumbrian hills and walks and she used to write a lot about them

especially in Peter Rabbit. The house is now looked after National Trust and is a great place to explore and have a

look around.

Campbelle & BluebirdIn 1967, on one Winter’s Day, Donald Campbelle walk out to Coniston

Water to beat the record speed for his boat Bluebird. During his run on the lake, he managed to get up to 360

before sadly flipping over. In 2001, divers found the reckage of Bluebird and the

mortal remains of Campbelle, Campbelle was laid to rest on 12th February 2001 in Coniston Village Cemetery.
