Nevada.

YOU REALLY CAN’T MISS THIS ONE! The conference theme is The Bright Future of EMS.

It is so bright, YOU GOTTA WEAR SHADES!

The pre-conference classes are spectacular! This year there will be 2 evening pre-conference classes. Day classes include a SimWar session using state of the art simulation equipment. There is a full day of Extrication or Confined Space Rescue for your choosing. For the brave at heart, we have scheduled a 4-hour Suspension Trauma class!

New speakers, new classes and a whole lot of food and fun will be available throughout the conference.

SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER!

The conference is sponsored by the University of Nevada School of Med-icine, Northeastern Area Health Education Center, which is an approved provider by the Nevada State Emergency Medical Services Section. The two day conference has been submitted for up to 21 CEUs for EMS providers. The University of Nevada School of Medicine has submitted for up to 15 of nursing education credit.

Dr. Kurt Bronander from the University of Nevada School of Medicine presents SIMULATION at its best! Participants will be divided into 3 teams. One team at a time will perform unknown scenarios using state of the art simulation patients and be given feedback from a panel of judges. After all 3 teams perform, the audience votes on a winner. Sign-up now as there is a limit of 12 students.

— T.I.M. (Traffic Incident Management) —Trooper Jim Stewart

This nationally recognized 4-hour training is for ALL agencies that may respond to a traffic related incident. Topics covered include: Arriving at the scene, Vehicle positioning, Scene management (working with other agencies and their specific roles), Scene safety, Traffic management, EMS/Fire response and Special circum-stances (hazmat, spills). This program will be presented in the morning and after-noon.

— Confined Space Awareness for EMS —Newmont Mine Rescue Team

Check it Out! This 8-hour class is a combination of classroom and hands on. We will cover what is a “confined space”, typical hazards associated with confined spac-es and how to mitigate them, and what types of confine spaces can be encountered in an emergency. Participants can expect to learn through open classroom discus-sion as well as hands on confined space entry. Please wear long sleeves, long pants and closed toed shoes. Limited to 20 students.

2015 PRE-CONFERENCE CLASSES

Bring your own harness if you like!

— Moulage Part 1: — Skills Review and Critique

Patty Winters and CompanyDue to the popularity of this class, we have expanded it to 3-separate sessions.

Part 1 includes reviewing and critiquing moulage and its usefulness in teaching EMS classes. Parts 2 and 3 will be held on Friday during the breakout sessions.

Part 2 includes constructing injuries using moulage and Part 3 includes using those injuries in a scenario. How can you pass this up! Even better news, this class is being offered in the evening!!

— Wilderness Medicine in the Dark —Kirk and Margaret Mittleman

ANOTHER EVENING CLASS! Join Kirk and Margaret for an evening of extra challenges by doing a wildness rescue at night.
