Currently, there is no cure, and it doesn’t just harm the patient, but the loved ones and caretakers of that person. There is hope however. For this disease, the best defense is a good of-fense. The treatments for it are simple and most anyone can receive them -- exercise and diet.

There are many powerful anti-Alzheimer’s/anti-dementia exercises and certain dietary factors that can aid us in fighting this terrible disease. 3:30–4:30pmMANAGING THE INFLAMMATORY LOAD: HOW INFLAMMATION INHIBITS FITNESS AND IS A HALLMARK OF CHRONIC DISEASEDR. CHERYL BURDETTE • Co-Founder and Educational Director, Dunwoody Labs

Standard of Care Medicine is built in a paradigm of symptom management rather than one that works to address route cause of disease. While symptom-based medicine is appropriate for acute care, that is to say if one is bleeding, first stopping the symptom of bleeding don’t worry about the cause, the same logic does not follow for chronic conditions. Chronic symptoms such as fatigue, inability to lose weight, pain and insomnia, can all be traced back to an inflammatory cause. In this talk we’ll discuss how to evaluate inflammation in your clients/patients/patient and manage it as part of their care. We will review common biomarkers as they related to inflammation, such as food sensitivity testing, gut permeability markers, and endocrine makers, that help diagnose an inflammatory process, that makes most conditions of chronic disease worse. Even aging is predominately driven by inflammation, so the more we work to slow inflammation, the more we slow the process of aging, and therefor the many conditions that come as a result of aging. We will talk about nutritional strategies to lower inflammation and help symptoms of chronic conditions remit. We will review evidenced based protocols, from diagnostics to treatment that you can utilize with your patients to improve quality of life.

4:45–5:45pmEDISON WAS WRONG ABOUT “THE DOCTOR OF THE FUTURE...”REED DAVIS • Founder, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition

In 1903 , Thomas Edison said “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” He was simply wrong. In this presentation Reed will explain how it’s up to “us”; health coaches, allied health professionals and the ancestral health movement to provide the platform and advocacy for the pursuit of optimal health. “Optimal” is a very rarified quality -- one that should not be thought of just in theory or ideal terms, but rather in very personal, attainable and sustainable ones. Our movement in that sense is about empowering people to think creatively about their circumstances and options, and then to adopt responsible behaviors to support their health goals.
