Dr. Steven White, Tsinghau University, Beijing 

Dr. White is Associate Professor of Management in the School of Economics and Management of 

Tsinghua University in Beijing. His research focuses two areas: how to achieve relational fit and

„cooperative advantage‟ from strategic alliances, and how emerging market firms meet the dual

challenges of innovation and internationalization in order to become global competitors. His teach-

ing covers strategy and execution, international business development, M&A and alliances,leadership and cross-cultural management. After completing his PhD at MIT‟s Sloan School of 

Management and before joining Tsinghua, he taught at INSEAD, CEIBS in Shanghai, as well as in

Hong Kong.

Dr. Kim is a professor at the Graduate School of Finance, KAIST. His research interests are in

technical human resources development and technology policy in developing economies including

technical start-up IPO in stock exchange, and in Chinese economic development. He holds a

 bachelor‟s degree in textile engineering and a master‟s in industrial engineering from Seoul

 National University and a PhD in engineering economics from Stanford University. He has worked

as a researcher, intercontinental operations division, at Hewlett Packard company, USA for a year,

and chair of the KOSDAQ committee, Korea for four years. He has been at KAIST since 1984.

After receiving a PhD from Syracuse University, Dr. Wakayama worked for Xerox Corporation in

the USA. He then returned to Japan and joined the Graduate School of International Management,International University of Japan. His teaching/research interests are in the area of innovation and

strategy. Currently, his research focuses on the irreducible nature of business and of strategy, through

interview-based field works and system-theoretic perspectives. He has given industry talks at various

organizations such as the Bank of Japan, IBM, Fuji Xerox, Mitsubishi Research Institute, Oracle,SAP, Mitsui Shipbuilding, Fujitsu Laboratories, and Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting.

Dr. Anil Gupta is the Chaired Professor of Strategy at INSEAD. He is widely regarded as one

of the world's leading experts on strategy, globalization and emerging markets. He holds adoctorate from Harvard Business School and has authored, coauthored or co-edited over 

seventy papers and four books including Getting China and India Right  which was recently

translated into Japanese. Dr. Gupta's numerous honors and awards include: invited speaker at

the World Economic Forum conferences, elected Lifetime Fellow of the Strategic Management

Society as well as the Academy of International Business, awarded the Glueck Best Paper 

Award in Business Policy and Strategy from the Academy of Management, inclusion in theAcademy of Management Journals' Hall of Fame, and recognition by Management Interna-

tional Review as one of the “Top 20 North American Superstars” for research in strategy and

organization. Professor Gupta is regularly an invited keynote speaker at major conferences and corporate forums in the USA,

Europe, China and India – including the Business Week CEO Forum, the Global Partnership Summit organized by Confedera-

tion of Indian Industry, the CEO2CEO Summit organized by Chief Executive magazine, and the Yale CEO summit to name a

few.

Dr. Aneel Karnani, University of Michigan, USA: Dr. Karnani is faculty member of the Strategy

group at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He obtained his doctoral degree from

the Harvard Business School, and has held visiting appointments at London Business School,

INSEAD, HEC, Northwestern University, CEIBS, and National University of Singapore among others.

His teaching and research interests include competitive strategy, strategies for growth, and global com-

 petition. He has published in a variety of journals including California Management Review, Strategic

Management Journal , and Stanford Social Innovation Review. He is also actively involved in execu-

tive development programs and consulting with companies in the USA, Europe and Asia.

Dr. U. Srinivasa Rangan, Babson College, USA: Dr. Rangan is a professor of strategy and interna-

tional business at Babson College. He received his doctorate from the Harvard Business School.

Dr. Jane Lu, National University of Singapore: Dr. Lu is an associate professor in NUS BusinessSchool, National University of Singapore. (POSCO Research Institute) and adjunct professor of KIT (Kumoh National Institute of Technology).

He has worked for POSRI since 1995. He has a Ph.D. from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of 

Science and Technology) and MBA from the State University of New York, Buffalo. He was a visiting

student at SPRU (Science and Technology Policy Research), University of Sussex, UK. His researchinterests include industrial innovations in the steel industry, technology development stage, latecomer

Dr. Michael Carney, Concordia University, Canada: Dr. Carney is Professor of Management and

Concordia University Research Chair in Strategy & Entrepreneurship at the John Molson School of 

Business, Montréal, Canada. He is currently a Senior Editor at the Asia-Pacific Journal of Management Review. He has published some 40 papers appearing in journals such as the Academy of 

Management Journal and the Strategic Management Journal . His research focuses on entrepreneur-

ship and the comparative analysis of business, financial and governance systems and their influence

Dr. Masahiro Okada, Keio University, Japan: Dr. Okada is an Associate Professor of Strategy at

the Graduate School of Business Administration, Keio University. Dr. Okada received his Bachelor 

of Political Science from Waseda University, M.B.A. from Keio University, and Ph.D. in Business

Administration from Ohio State University. After working for Honda Motors in Japan and the U.S.,
