damIn the even t of our successful con duct of National Level Fire & Evacuation Drill on the----21 s t of January every year in Schools in the Coun try, the Min istry of Home A ffairs, Govt. OfIndia, has decided to once again to organize /conduct "N at ional leve l Fire and EvacuationDrills in Schools in the Country" on the 21 s t of January 2013 at 11 AM to create Fire

CY Oafety awareness amongst the school staffs and students. In this regard, it is requested toappoint One Team comprising of 6-10 Firemen per District to carry out the mock drillMU"uccessfully. The drill should be conducted under the supervision of the designated team.The designated team will do the following:

Identify an d Select On e School per District, not the earlier organized one, and in formthe Education Department on proposed drillVisit the school an d brief the man agemen t conc ern ed in regard to organ ize the drillCoordinate and involve other stakeholders, such as the local Police, CD Volunteers,Medical Dept., etc.Formulate the School Fire Management Team (SFMC) and the sub-teams (as givenbelow at SI. No. xiii), if n ot formed alreadyBrief the School Fire Management teams on their specific roles and responsibilities to

rry out the drill and train them acc ordingly for safe con duct of drillilitate the SFMC in preparing the School Fire Management Plan (SFMP) afterughly assessing the whole school premises, taking into account on therd/vuln erability aspects an d resource in ven toriesitate the SFMC in preparing the Evacuation Map and disseminate the informationI the students and staffs. Prepare floor wise building plans and display theacuation Route M ap in the corridors an d other importan t areas.Display Signage like "Exit", "Enter", "Emergency Exit", Assembly Point, etc., atappropriate location s, alon g with arrow marks for safe and quick evacuation, as per theprepared plan .Dem on strate the use of Fire Extin guishers to the iden tified School Staffs and Studen tsOn the day of drill, to create scen arios and supervise all studen ts/staffs for their defin edroles.Observe/Monitor/Assess the drill exercise and debrief the management on furtherimprovemen t n eededInstruct the school man agemen t to exercise the dril l on a regular basis and inform allstakeholders, in cluding the n earest Fire Station on the matter.
