Just prior to their leaving I announced to the boys that it was bath time. The immediate response was Ryan beginning to sing “The Bath Song” while marching through the living room in the direction of the bath tub. “What’s he singing?” one of the guests asked. “The Bath Song,” I replied. “You have a bath song,” she asked? “We have a song for almost everything.” I answered. One of my favorite is, “We’re having a parade.” The number of hours I have spent singing that song while following my children around the room, driveway, and indeed neighborhood is too high to calculate. Yet I cherish every second of it. For whatever reason, and for every song we sing, I notice my children have an incessant need to lift their legs high and march to the rhythm of the song as if marching to some mystical land of joy and peace. I know why they do it…they are simply imitating the one who taught them the song. I, for one, hope they never stop. I pray someday they cherish the memory of the songs as much as I do, and teach them to their children…perhaps leading them to march through this parade we call life as well. It has been said, “Through the Church the Song goes on.”… That sweet song of Salvation first taught by God the Father to his child Israel. Then lived in Christ, taught and caught by the disciples, church fathers, pastors, teachers, parents, now you. We are the choir that now brings the melody of God’s love into our world. Yet too often the song that is our privilege to sing is drowned out by the busy refrain of our lives. Lent is a time for us to reexamine the melodies of our lives that mean the most. It is a time for us to listen again to the Song the Singer sings and try to imitate His verse in our lives by living as He lived. Yet it is also a time to rediscover the reality that His Song still goes on and that the sweet refrain of forgiveness is still sung to us and echoes sweetly in our ears knowing that the Singer sings to us. Spring springs upon us bringing warmer days, water to nourish the barren ground, and new life everywhere the eye can see. Imagine if you were to catch a tune that captures the eternal sweetness of the Song of Salvation and the recurring refrain of new life in the spring. That is what Lent is all about. Listening, learning, loving, leading… March with me,

March Into Spring

We had some guests come over for dinner a few nights ago. From the Board of Christian Education...

Hey Buddy, can you

spare me a dime?

That phrase was popular during the Great De-pression. Let's change it a little today to "Hey Buddy, can you spare me some TIME?" Huh? Well in this Windsock we, the Board of Christian Education, are asking for one of your most important treasures, a little of your time. Concordia has been blessed with wonderful and dedicated Sunday School teach-ers (Please feel free to take the opportunity to thank Ulana, Katie, and Heather for "training up our children in the way they should go" for so many years) but because of scheduling, they are not able to attend the adult Bible class held at the same time as Sunday School. If you can offer to teach one or two Sunday School les-sons a month, it will give these ladies an oppor-tunity to be in Pastor's Today's Light class. Now I know if a member saw one of our Sunday School teachers struggling to set a ta-ble or move something we would have many volunteers offering to help. Please consider giving one or two hours a month to lighten the burden for our teachers. The lesson plans are all set up and there would be little preparation time for each lesson. Oh, and you will experi-ence seeing how our Savior feeds His little lambs. Please see Pastor or me, Dennis Mu-rawski, if "you can spare me a time."

The Spring Season is upon us and so soon will be the need to fire up the mowers again. Our grounds keeper Brad Shepperd could certainly use your help! There is plenty to do from mowing to weed whacking and more. If you would like to serve our Savior in this way please contact Brad Shepperd:

Today’s Light

Challenge!

We are excited to start this very im-portant journey into the pages of Holy Scripture with you. In order to facilitate your journey and to provide you with ac-cess to your guide (Pastor Mark), we are setting up an email account specifi-cally dedicated to Today’s Light ques-tions and commentaries. If you have a Today’s Light oriented question, please email it to:

[email protected].

Pastor Mark will try to answer your question directly, or he may use it in next week’s Bible Study. You may also wish to “Like” Concordia Lutheran’s To-day’s Light Facebook page for contin-ued communication.

Men’s Network Concordia Men’s Network is a program de-signed for the men of Concordia. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March18. All men of the church are invited to attend at 6:00 pm. The evening will start with fellowship cen-tered on the grilling of meat (each man brings his own steak, chicken, or whatever). Cold drinks, sides (Bubba’s famous baked pota-toes), and Blue Bell ice cream are provided for the meal. After dinner Pastor Mark will provide spiritual nourishment as attendees discuss and pray together. This event is sponsored by the Board of Lay Ministry and is planned as a re-curring program for the third Tuesday of each month.
