SEASON
PROGRAMME
SPRING 12SOMMER I SØNDERBORG
C O N C E RT H A L L A L S I O N
RG
2012 is here, and we are ready for yet another fantastic season at Alsion Concert Hall. We are
looking forward to hosting a great variety of artists, such as the world’s best chamber orchestra
with the tricky name Academy of St. Martin in the Fields led by Swedish virtuoso trumpeter
Håkan Hardenberger, who is also a solo player, or the highly respected St. Petersburg Radio and
TV Symphony Orchestra. At the other end of the spectrum, the Danish comedy quartet “Ørkenens
Sønner” will put on their juicy, saucy and perfectly musical show, and you can meet the kings of
Danish stand-up, Casper and Frank. If you think only men can be funny and charming at the same
time, we can highly recommend “City Singler 2”, a hilarious show with Danish actresses
Trine Gadeberg, Sofi e Lassen-Kahlke, Anne Louise Hassing and Kaya Brüel.
With soloists like Annarita Gemmabella, Sabine Meyer and Michala Petri, “Sønderjyllands Symfoni-
orkester”, the Southern Jutland Symphony Orchestra, is presenting great symphonic experiences
again. You can also experience them in a totally different way when they perform some of the
absolute classics of symphonic rock. We are also presenting the opera Don Giovanni, Strauss-Gala,
“Slesviske Musikkorps” featuring Jette Torp and Erann DD, Peter Schaufuss’s modern staging of
the ballet classic Swan Lake and a whole lot more. Last but not least, do not miss our traditional
community singing at Café Alsion every fi rst Saturday of the month.
We are looking forward to yet another year with great experiences at Alsion Concert Hall.

The Middle Ages were anything but
dark! In the 1200s, a range of songs
in Medieval Latin and Middle High
German were written down, and
stored in the Benediktbeuren Monas-
tery in Bavaria. In 1937, these cheer-
ful, happy and sometimes frivolous
texts about love, booze and eroticism
were set to music by Carl Orff.

Bartók is rarely found on concert
programmes in Denmark. His Piano
Concerto No. 3 was his last piece, and
by his death in 1945, it was not yet
fi nished. It is light-hearted, cheerful
and soft, and an enchanting memory
of one of the dominant musical fi gures
of the 20th century.
