From the very first development I made inside my mother’s womb, we created a

special bond. A precious bond we cannot see but feel. Something very valuable that could

never be replaced or destroy. For me my mother is everything.

When I first came to this world she was the one who embraced me, who took care of me. She who was always

there when I needed her most. Till now, when I left my home-town to study she was there to support and encourage me both

physically and mentally.

She gave me so much and I am very grateful and thankful to have her. Now all that I can give her in return is to make her as happy as possible.

In my conceptual work I decide to express this bond and how much it means to me. I have divide my work into three parts, representing three periods I have my mum to be thankful of.

My mother’s love is like a clean white paper. It is pure and simple with only good intentions. It is something we should treasure like great trees that were used to create these tpapers.

In each part of the work will have white paper to represent mother. Which will also link each part together.

I used another object to represent me or in this case the child. This will vary in each part, reflecting the burdens we gave our mothers at each period.

The technique I used is close-up shot. The aim was to show objects in a new perspective. To express how simple household objects could be interesting and meaning full. Just like our mother’s love that we tend to look over or forget at times.

Giving Birth and JoyFor many women the process of giving birth is view as something frightening. Yet it brings joy to the new mothers to see their child in their arms.

I am thankful for my mother who lovingly carried me in her womb for nine months. Then painfully gave birth to me, and brought me to this world.

I represent myself, or the baby as a pair of scissors with sharp blades. Not only does it reflect pain it is an object that should be handle with caution just like the fragile baby.

The diamond cut in the paper is a symbol to express how valuable the child is for to its mother.

Caring and Growing UpThis picture refers to the caring process. How the mother looks after their child with great devotion. At this period the child is still vulnerable and frail like the glass. It can fall and shatter if not handle with care.

How the mother raise their child will reflect in their personality when they grow up, just like how water is pour into the glass : slowly and gently, no water will spill. Roughly and careless, water will spill creating a mess.

The overlapping paper is like a mother’s arms that embrace the child, protecting it, giving warmth and love. Also guiding it to the right path so the child will grow up healthy and be a good person.

Supporting and Success

Everything a mother gave her child is of high quality and carefully chosen. Wheth-er it’s dinner on the table or schools we attend.

The curving white paper represents mother’s back, which will always support and help her child. Hoping her child will only get the best life has to offer. The dark shadows caused by the paper express a mother’s devotion and energy she put in to give her child a great life. The upward curving of that paper also reflects pushing motion, as in pushing her child up to meet their dreams, their success.

The soap bubbles represent the child’s ambitions or dreams that float up with the aid of their mother’s support. Also, bubbles are light in weight meaning that no more burden on the mother, because their child has finally grown up. The three bubbles also mean the three points of life that a mother is most proud of their child : one seeing her child graduate, one seeing her child obtaining a career and one seeing her child getting married and have a family.

With each part of my work the objects that are used to represent a child gradually gets lighter in weight. Meaning fewer burdens for their mother.
