PROPERTIES ASSIGNED
All columns = 0.45 * 0.35 m All beams = 0.35 * 0.45 m All slabs = 0.15 m thick Raft Foundation Area=675 m2
Raft foundation Thickness=600 mmPile Diameter = 300mmPile Cap Depth = 750 mmParapet = 0.12 m thick RCC (3 KN/m Load)
LOADS ASSIGNED

Area Provided= 675 m2
Upward Bearing Pressure=122 KN/m2
Total Load on Raft=82290 KN Reinforcement in E-W Direction=10mm@100mm c/c (both at top and bottom) Reinforcement in N-S Direction=16mm@100mm c/c(at top) 10mm@100mm c/c(at bottom)

PILE FOUNDATION (TYPE 2)
COMPARISON OF RAFT AND PILE FOUNDATION
1.RAFT FOUNDATION- Volume of Concrete = 405 m3
Quantity of Steel - 10 dia. = 12.3 tonnes 16 dia. = 11.4 tonnes 25 dia. = 12.2 tonnes 12 dia. = 6.2 tonnes Total Quantity of Steel = 42.1 tonnes 2.PILE FOUNDATION- Volume of Concrete = 320 m3
Quantity of Steel - 25 dia. = 9.55 tonnes 20 dia. = 3.77 tonnes 12 dia. = 12.70 tonnes 10 dia. = 2.12 tonnes 6 dia. = 2.95 tonnes Total Quantity of Steel = 31.09 tonnes Hence Pile Foundation is more economical.
