Currently, the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, and in particular the Tver region has created a situation in which much of the production of agricultural products at a loss. Potatoes - one of the few crops grown in our region and are cost effective.

Our country is a major exporter of potatoes and is one of the leading places in the world, both in areas under crops and the gross collection, yielding to these measures only to China. Recently, however, our country is bought about 350 tons per year, and the first seeds of elite reproduction. This suggests that the insufficient supply of domestic producers of potato quality and relatively inexpensive seed material.

Reproduction in potato production is vegetatively (tubers), ie create clones of plants with absolutely identical set of genetic characteristics.

Within a few years vegetation in plants generated and transmitted to subsequent generations certain changes caused mycoplasma, virus and viroid diseases.Crop losses caused by a viral infection in different cultures and in different climatic conditions, reach a considerable size. For example the potato virus diseases reduce yield by 20-60%.

The progress made in recent years, biotechnology, have created the possibility of solving scientific problems of a new branch of modern agricultural production - disease-free seed.

Are special innovative manufacturing companies in which

produced the "purification" of the material from pathogens. To do this, the complex of measures ensuring the complete removal of visible and hidden sources of contamination of the seed with a further reproduction in laboratory conditions and adaptation to production conditions.
