O Complete an online family tree up to your 8 great-grandparents
O Submit a screenshot of your online tree
O Write a one page synopsis describing your experiences working on your family tree.
FamilySearch AccountO Refer to the prior presentation for
instructions on creating an account on FamilySearch.org
O After you create your account, complete your family tree online – up to your 8 great-grandparents.
Building Your TreeO You may find it helpful to gather details on paper
firstO You can find a form at http://
www.byub.org/ancestors/charts/pdf/pedigree.pdf. You can fill it in online, or print it and fill it out.
O Please note: Women should be entered with their maiden names (e.g. Michelle L. Robinson instead of Michelle L. Obama). If maiden name is unknown, leave blank.
Go to: https://familysearch.org/campaign/myfamily to start building your tree online. They system will guide you through the process for up to your great-grandparents.
Viewing Your TreeO After you finish entering your family
members, you will then go to view your family tree.
Viewing Your Tree (cont’d)O When you go to your tree, change the view
to “Portrait”
O The option to change views is in the top left corner of the page
