A behaviors, and Duties which is expected or encouraged to perform.
ii. These expectations are referred to as roles.
iii. Eg: The role of a "professor" includes teaching
students, answering their questions, being impartial, and dressing appropriately.

Delayed Ascription: When the social status is given
at a later stage of life
Fluid Ascription: When the ascribed status leads toan achieved status
v. Eg: China, Japan, France, India and etc.
vi. Eg: A person born into a wealthy family has a high
ascribed status based solely on the social networks
and economic ad vantages that one gains from being
born into a family with more resources than others.

vii. Eg: The caste system in India.
Everyone is born belonging to a specific caste.
The caste of the parents determines the status of their children,
regardless of ability or merit.
Brahmins- Consist of all priests, scholars, and enlightened people thathave been through many lives.
Kshatriyas- These are the rulers, warriors, and those concerned with
the defense and administration of the well-being of their town or
village.
V aishyas- Consisted of all the traders, merchants, and people involved
in agricultural production.
Sudra- They are laborers and servants for the other castes.
Untouchables- The lowest of the low. The jobs of these people include
the cleaning of dead bodies.
