Page 2: Complete Achievement - Seymour College

At Seymour College, we believe in

celebrating the whole girl.

We know that our girls are much

more than just a score and that

the success of our Year 12 cohort

is better measured in what they

achieve completely and who

they become.

We do not believe academic results should be the only measurement of our girls’ success. The true measure of a quality education is not in numbers but in the strength and abilities of a young woman who has the confidence to undertake whatever comes next.

That is why Complete Achievement at Seymour celebrates achievement across academia, wellbeing and service. This three-dimensional reporting is a more accurate record of our girls’ successes and celebrates the young women of strength, optimism and justice they have become.

It is with great pride that I congratulate the Class of 2019 on their complete achievement.

Complete Achievement at Seymour

Celebrating strength in SACE and IB results and academic excellence across our wide- ranging subject offerings.

Recognising the importance of wellbeing through student participation in co-curricular activities and achievement against Seymour’s unique GIRLbeing Framework.

Bringing the College’s motto, Crescam Ministrando, to life through service learning and opportunities outside the classroom.

Black Watch MedalThe ultimate measure of Seymour’s approach to student achievement is the Black Watch Medal, which is awarded annually to the Year 12 student who epitomises, throughout her final year, the qualities of strength, optimism and justice, as well as the College’s motto, Crescam Ministrando.

This student exhibits kindness and courtesy to all and has made a determined commitment to her academic studies, co-curricular activities and school life.

It is my pleasure to congratulate this year’s Black Watch Medallist, Isabella Henry. In 2019 Isabella held the position of Clan Cameron Chieftain, was an active member of Year 12 Wellbeing Service Group and completed her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. She has also been an important member of a number of sports teams and music ensembles, winning a pocket in recognition of her Contribution and Excellence in soccer.

Empowering girls at Seymour

Empowering Seymour girls to become their own definition of a strong woman was the main objective of 2019 – the Year of Empowerment. It was a year that encouraged Seymour girls to be confident, step outside their comfort zone and reach for the stars.

Recognising your own strength is essential to becoming empowered. But strength means something different to everyone. For me, a strong woman is defined by her bravery and her initiative to stand up for what she believes in.

However, strength can also be exemplified through giving back to the community, excelling in areas of academics or sport, or simply living life with purpose. It is not until we recognise our own strength that we can truly achieve anything.

In a world that is starting to make significant progress towards gender equality, it is so important for the girls of today to support each other as we endeavour to conquer any challenges that come our way.

It is not until you create the first spark that a blazing inferno erupts.

And it is not until you empower one girl, that a generation of empowered women will rise up.
